The Production Supervisor is responsible for supporting day-to-day production operations within the canning and cookroom areas at the Plover facility. During the processing season, this role will focus on overseeing production flow, employee supervision, safety, quality, and operational performance from receiving through the cookroom. During the non-processing season, the role will support maintenance execution, equipment readiness, project work, and continuous improvement activities within assigned production areas. This position works closely with the Shift Supervisor, Production Manager, maintenance, quality, warehouse, and operations leadership teams to maintain safe, efficient, and compliant production operations. The Production Supervisor provides leadership and direction to hourly and seasonal employees while supporting production goals, food safety requirements, and Del Monte initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of supervisory, lead, or manufacturing experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, GMPs, HACCP, quality systems, sanitation requirements, and employee safety standards.
  • Understanding of canning operations, cookroom systems, production flow, maintenance coordination, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to lead teams, manage employee performance, and support a positive work environment.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work off-shifts, weekends, overtime, and varying schedules during the processing season.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Food Science, Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in food manufacturing, canning, cookroom operations, production, or maintenance environments preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a food manufacturing or processing environment.
  • Experience supporting canning, cookroom, thermal processing, sterilization, or packaging operations.
  • Experience with DMPS, lean manufacturing, TPM, or continuous improvement programs.
  • Experience with maintenance coordination, project work, environmental reporting, and capital improvement activities.
  • Knowledge of behavioral-based safety programs, employee development, and workforce planning.
  • Experience supporting seasonal workforces and high-volume production operations.
  • SAP experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily canning and cookroom operations during the processing season tomaintainproduction, efficiency, and quality goals.
  • Provide leadership coverage for assigned production departments, shifts, and processing areas as needed.
  • Coordinate daily activities related to raw product receiving, cookroom operations, canning processes, and product flow through the facility.
  • Assistwith staffing, labor planning, and shift assignments to support production schedules and operational needs.
  • Monitor production performance, downtime, laborutilization, and operational issues to helpmaintaindaily targets.
  • Review production records, downtime tracking, labor reporting, yield information, and operational documentation for accuracy and completion.
  • Communicate daily priorities, shift updates, production concerns, and staffing needs to employees and plant leadership.
  • Support production continuity across shifts, departments, and seasonal staffing changes.
  • Provide oversight of canning and cookroom operations to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant processing activities.
  • Support production teams inmaintainingproper cookroom operation, equipment performance, line flow, and production readiness.
  • Monitor process controls, production parameters, product handling, and equipment conditions tomaintainproduct quality and efficiency.
  • Work closely with maintenance and operations teams to address downtime, equipment issues, and operational bottlenecks.
  • Assistwith troubleshooting production issues related to cookroom systems, canning equipment, conveyors, fillers, seamers, sterilizers, and supporting equipment.
  • Ensure processing activities align with production schedules, quality standards, and customer expectations.
  • Provide support across processing, warehousing, and other production areas during staffing shortages, vacations, or production peaks.
  • Assistwith environmental reporting, DNR-related activities, emissions reporting, inspections, and other operational support activities as needed.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and daily support to hourly and seasonal employees within assigned production areas.
  • Coach employees on safety, attendance, quality, productivity, sanitation, and work expectations.
  • Support onboarding, training, and development of new and existing employees.
  • Assistwith employee performance management, corrective action discussions, and recognition activities.
  • Help develop internal talent and support future leadership development opportunities.
  • Assistin training production management trainees and less experienced supervisors.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, communication, and positive employee relations throughout the department.
  • Maintain visibility on the production floor to reinforce expectations, support employees, and resolve issues quickly.
  • Promote compliance with all company safety policies, GMPs, food safety programs, environmental requirements, and quality standards.
  • Support safe work practices related to production equipment, cookroom systems, lockout/tagout, confined space, machine guarding, and powered industrial equipment.
  • Participate in safety observations, incident investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintain responsibility for quality record review and proper response to deviations, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
  • Support compliance with all local, state, federal, and corporate food safety and quality requirements.
  • Assist with audits, inspections, customer visits, air emissions reporting, insurance inspections, and regulatory activities as needed.
  • Reinforce behavioral-based safety practices and safe work expectations among employees.
  • Assume responsibility for product safety, food security, product legality, and product quality in the absence of plant leadership.
  • Support maintenance execution during the non-processing season within assigned production areas.
  • Assistwith work order coordination, parts ordering, contractor support, and project tracking.
  • Work with maintenance teams to prioritize repairs, PM activities, and operational readiness for pack season.
  • Support planning and execution of capital projects, equipment upgrades, D/A installations, and facility improvements.
  • Assistwithman-hourtracking, project timelines, and resource coordination during the off-season.
  • Provide support for startup activities, equipment testing, and line readiness before production begins.
  • Support implementation of Del Monte Production Systems (DMPS), lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead orparticipatein team meetings focused on safety, quality, sanitation, production, and cost improvement.
  • Identifyopportunities to reduce downtime, improve laborutilization, improve sanitation efficiency, and lower operating costs.
  • Assistwith process improvement projects, standard work development, and operational problem-solving.
  • Encourage employee involvement in continuous improvement efforts and operational feedback.
  • Support efforts to improve OEE, quality performance, safety metrics, and production efficiency.
