About The Position

The Supervisor, Prevention plays a crucial role in creating and coordinating prevention initiatives such as testing for HIV, hepatitis C, and STIs (where applicable); condom distribution; prevention education and outreach; and syringe access services (where available). Our primary goal is to support priority populations such as gay/bisexual/same-gender loving cisgender men, people of trans experience, and people who inject drugs (PWID) using a harm reduction framework.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, community health, social work, or other related field and/or five years of related experience.
  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the HIV/AIDS patient population and/or an eagerness to learn about this community.
  • Knowledge and/or experience working with HIV/AIDS, PrEP, and alcohol and other drug (AODA) issues.
  • Experience in leadership roles and/or supervision of staff.
  • Must be willing and able to travel within and throughout the service delivery area.
  • Ability to network effectively with diverse constituencies within the community.
  • Ability to formulate and implement problem-solving concepts.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with internal and external partners.
  • Effective organization and fiscal management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead organizational change and guide teams through periods of transformation while maintaining a positive work culture.
  • Ability to type along with a working knowledge of the following software/systems: word processing systems, spreadsheets, and Windows Operating System.

Nice To Haves

  • HIV Prevention Certified Provider, preferred.
  • Community Health Education Specialist (CHES) certification or CPH certification is a plus.
  • For locations with a company vehicle, a valid driver’s license, auto insurance and a clean driving record.
  • HIV experience in a not-for-profit environment.
  • Experience in HIV counselling, testing, and referrals.
  • Prior harm reduction work.
  • Bilingual

Responsibilities

  • Lead recruit, train, supervise, coach, and evaluate staff/volunteers to implement programs in accordance with state requirements and guidelines, and within the parameters of the department budget and operational plan.
  • Consult with the department director and human resources when personnel problems occur and take appropriate action.
  • Serve as a member of the Prevention leadership team, which includes providing input, engaging in discussion, maintaining consistent programming, and carrying out Vivent Health’s mission with team members.
  • Implement state-of-the-art HIV prevention programs targeting priority populations and continuously research programs working with similar populations to ensure the target population is receiving the latest effective interventions available.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to streamline service delivery systems.
  • Develop a system to provide constant communication with staff to inform them of decisions made at management meetings and provide a forum to discuss issues staff may have.
  • Network with community stakeholders including community-based organizations and state HIV program staff.
  • Utilize electronic prevention records to generate program statistical reports and complete grant progress reports as required.
  • Develop and monitor the annual programmatic budget and work plans.
  • Assist in Vivent Health’s revenue generating strategies including grant applications, timely reporting to a funding source and other initiatives.
  • Implement special projects and perform other duties as assigned by the director of prevention services.
  • Adhere to all agency policies, including but not limited to Confidentiality, Employee Handbook, Health Care Corporate Compliance Plan, Standards of Conduct, training, and other relevant policies.
