About The Position

As the Phlebotomy Supervisor, you will coordinate laboratory services with the manager and director. You will plan, organize, and set priorities for daily operations to meet objective for acute care or outreach phlebotomy services. ACCOUNTABILITIES All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise 1. Oversees and directs daily workflow for all acute care or outreach phlebotomy activities. Establishes goals and performance standards, conducts performance evaluations. Maintains positive performance communications. Reports problems relating to staffing, morale, and work methods and makes recommendations. 2. Identifies section budget needs and participates in annual budget preparation. Manages section annual budget. Ensures adequate quantities of supplies. Evaluates and provides input on new/updated equipment and supplies. 3. Develops and encourages staff development through identification of educational needs. Coordinates orientation and training for new associates. Promotes staff development by evaluating and reviewing applications for career ladder advancements. 4. Directs and coordinates the quality assurance program in section or specialty area. Monitors QA. Identifies limiting factors to improve workflow. Ensures the area has well-defined quality control procedures and is accountable for data. 5. Establishes procedures, evaluates, and resolves issues related to collecting and processing biological specimens for analysis. 6. Resolves inquiries and concerns; acts as a resource and fosters effective communication between the laboratory and the health care team. Establishes, interprets, and monitors compliance with policy and procedure. 7. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and conferences. Functions as a role model through precepting and acting as a resource person. 8. Establish guidelines for new ProMedica Laboratory accounts through the implementation of protocols and procedures. 9. Coordinates all aspects of phlebotomy outreach customer service, supply distribution to offices, patient service centers, and courier support. 10. Maintains compliance with all regulatory and safety standards of accrediting agencies. 11. Performs other duties as directed. Requirements

  • Associates degree or formal clinical laboratory/phlebotomy training
  • Must be able to differentiate colors
  • Minimum of 3 years laboratory experience
  • Certified PBT

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in management, chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent preferred
