Position Summary: The Supervisor, Pharmacy functions as a recognized expert, providing authoritative professional guidance and day-to-day supervision of all operational and clinical activities within the assigned inpatient hospital pharmacy. The incumbent is accountable for the oversight and coordination of drug distribution, prescription order processing, therapeutic intervention, drug information and consultation, patient prescription profile maintenance, drug therapy monitoring, and drug compounding, ensuring efficient operations and the implementation of cost control measures that support drug utilization improvement and patient outcomes. This role assists with the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of daily pharmacy operations and participates in the development and evaluation of departmental policies and procedures, preparing short and long range goals and objectives for review and approval. The Supervisor ensures compliance with all applicable pharmacy regulations, including the California Board of Pharmacy, The Joint Commission, California Department of Public Health, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and USP 795, 797, and 800 standards. This position is actively involved in the evaluation, mentorship, and training of pharmacy coworkers, residents, and students, and serves as a Direct Care Provider as defined in Pharmacy Policy. The Supervisor exercises independent judgment in managing day-to-day pharmacy operations and the execution of established departmental objectives.

Requirements

  • Minimum four years of clinical experience as a licensed pharmacist, or two years experience & a Residency
  • Expertise in Pharmacotherapy, Residency preferred
  • Current BLS or ACLS certification
  • Registered Pharmacist

  • Significant experience (more than 2 years) developing and implementing drug utilization programs for both inpatient and outpatient populations
  • Effective presentation skills
  • 1 year of manager/supervisor experience
