About The Position

The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Pascal Mubenga, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of: Supervisor of Special Education – Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)

Requirements

  • Candidates must hold a master’s degree
  • A New York State certificate in Special Education or a related field such as school social worker, school psychologist or speech pathologist, and a New York State School District Administrator (SDA), New York State School Supervisor (SAS), New York State School Building Leader (SBL), New York State School District Leader (SDL ) or Administrator certificate by the time of appointment.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of five years of approved teaching and/or administrative experience
  • Knowledge of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, Part 200 Students with Disabilities Required.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates with strong knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)/Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS), Restorative Practices, Trauma-Informed Care, Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring the implementation of MTSS/PBIS by the Student Support Teams
  • Assist in supervising the work of school social workers as it relates to both SST and CSE responsibilities
  • Assist in supervising the work of school psychologists as it relates to both SST and CSE responsibilities
  • Supervise behavioral specialists assigned to the Division of Special Education
  • Monitor all CSE requirements and actions
  • Audit compliance with Part 200 Regulations
  • Provide supports to teachers on instructional interventions and best practices for instruction and behavior
  • Participate as a member of the administrative team as it relates to staff and professional development
  • Provide ongoing support to buildings
  • Develop and provide professional development to teachers and paraprofessionals and staff
  • Assist with design and implementation of department procedures to improve service to students with disabilities
  • Conduct formal observations in alignment with the APPR process
  • Attend required district and department meetings
  • Other duties as assigned
