About The Position

The objective of the Home Finding Supervisor is to work with the Division Director and Homefinding Unit staff to ensure the quality and timeliness of all home finding Unit activities, including foster home recruitment, training, study, certification, and recertification. Responsible for PAMS, Scorecard and Connections activities related to foster home development and support. The Home Finding Supervisor assists in keeping the program staff and foster parents up to date regarding policies and procedures related to foster home development and maintenance and represents the LF Home finding Unit within as well as outside the agency, when necessary.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited university with a Master’s degree in Social Work (or related field) and four years of professional experience in homefinding.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards promulgated by the New York City Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS)
  • Conduct thorough and timely certification and recertification – including background checks, home safety assessments and continuous trainings.
  • Ensure that foster and adoptive parents attend to the physical and emotional well-being of the children placed in their homes and that children are placed appropriately in safe, nurturing foster homes based on their development needs.
  • Partner with the Family Foster Care & Adoption Program’s Case Management team
  • Coordinating foster parent training, identify and schedule training specific to the needs of children in foster care, including child development, adolescent behavior, behavior management, navigation of DOE and OMH programs, parenting children/youth with mental/behavioral health disorders, etc.
  • Deliver MAPP, Deciding Together, and individual Foster Parent training as needed; track trainings with the assistance of unit’s support worker
  • Oversee acceptance of children for placement in Little Flower’s Foster Care Program and identify new homes for children in need of replacement.
  • Support the RDS Director in ensuring that an Intake staff is available to answer OPA phone calls 24/7
  • Ensures that Intake staff make consistent decisions regarding acceptance of children, are honest and respectful in communication with foster parents
  • Provides formal and informal supportive, programmatic supervision to each team member; holds individual supervision on a bi-weekly basis and team meetings monthly.
