About The Position

At the Hilton Garden Inn and Harlingen Convention Center in Harlingen, Texas, the Engineer I/Supervisor is responsible for making sure the property is always kept in optimal condition with the least amount of disruption to guests and staff. Requirements

  • One year of experience in a hotel or similar industry, as well as a high school degree or its equivalent, are prerequisites.
  • Long hours and flexibility are occasionally needed.
  • Heavy work is defined as exerting more than 100 pounds of force on occasion, more than 50 pounds of force on a regular basis, or more than 20 pounds continuously to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects in any other way.
  • At all times, keep a friendly and welcoming attitude.
  • It is necessary to be able to interact with all levels of staff and visitors both orally and in writing in a way that is attentive, kind, polite, and service-oriented.
  • Effective listening, comprehension, and explanation of issues brought up by staff members and visitors are essential.

  • Increase productivity, pinpoint issues, and help put solutions in place.
  • Effective problem-solving skills are required, including the ability to anticipate, prevent, identify, and resolve issues as needed.
  • To achieve the right goals, one must be able to comprehend and apply complex information, data, etc., from a variety of sources.
  • Cross-training in other hotel-related fields is a must.
  • You have to be able to keep information private.
  • Initiative is required, including the ability to anticipate operational or guest needs.

Nice To Haves

  • It would be ideal to have at least two years of progressive experience in a hotel or similar industry.
  • It is preferable to take courses in a related field at trade school or college.

Responsibilities

  • Repair the hotel's air conditioning system by replacing the motors, cleaning the coils, and changing the filters.
  • All equipment, including boilers, chillers, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), electrical, etc., should have preventive maintenance performed.
  • Take the necessary equipment readings.
  • Take readings after testing the cooling tower.
  • When necessary, change and program televisions.
  • Change out light switches, fixtures, lightbulbs, and outlets.
  • Make repairs to furniture.
  • Pumps can be fixed and replaced.
  • Fix plumbing issues (such as clogged drains, copper pipes, washers, handles, drain fittings, etc.).
  • Recognize and comprehend wiring diagrams and blueprints.
  • Track down and fix any kind of water line.
  • Diagnose and fix kitchen appliances.
  • Keep records of repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal regulations when performing and maintaining work.
  • Swimming pools and spas should be tested, cleaned, and repaired.
  • Paint the areas that are designated.
  • Fix and complete the sheetrock.
  • Fix any kind of wall covering.
  • Fix and set up the electronic lock system in a hotel.
  • Help oversee other members of the engineering staff.
  • Help with the scheduling of preventive maintenance and maintenance tasks.
