About The Position

The Reynoldsburg City Schools’ Supervisor of Food Service (Communications & Operations) is responsible for serving as the Supervisor of Food Service under the direction of the Director of Food Service. The role performs a variety of duties in the Food Service office, including assisting in managing the food service program, managing communications with parents and community, managing marketing materials, and related duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of relevant school nutrition program experience.
  • Four (4) years of clerical experience.
  • Three (3) years of successful experience in communications department duties.
  • Three (3) years of experience using Photoshop, Corel Draw, or other design software.
  • ServSafe Certified through the National Restaurant Association and accreditation by the American National Standards Institute Conference for Food Protection.
  • Supervisory experience in institutional food management, large quantity food preparation and service, or school food service management.
  • Extensive knowledge of appropriate laws and regulations regarding food service.
  • Experience with online point of sale (POS) software.
  • Valid Motor Vehicle Operator's license.
  • Knowledge of: School lunch program regulations.
  • Food handling, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Word processing, spreadsheet, and database management applications.
  • Skilled in: Exercising tact and discretion when communicating with students, parents, staff, and the public.
  • Proper telephone techniques.
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective, active listening.
  • Ability to: Maintain respect at all times for confidential information.
  • Maintain accurate records and complex filing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in administering all food programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, county, city, and district policies, regulations, and standards.
  • Prepares financial reports, federal and state reports, district reports, and other necessary correspondence.
  • Assists with annual audits and preparation for the State Administration Review.
  • Compiles and files data for the district for Summer EBT payouts to families.
  • Performs Direct Certifications (ODDEX) several times a year.
  • Coordinates and oversees the translation of all Food Service communication to ensure accessibility in primary languages spoken by families.
  • Establishes and oversees community outreach events.
  • Creates marketing materials including breakfast and lunch menus, special lunch days, and contest flyers.
  • Enhances social media presence and creates a marketing strategy.
  • Updates district website with current Food Services information adhering to district brand standards.
  • Coordinates the appearance and consistency of all print and electronic departmental material.
  • Assists with menu and nutrition planning to ensure USDA meal pattern compliance.
  • Inputs and maintains up-to-date nutritional data in the Health-e-Pro online menu platform.
  • Reviews and monitors Health-e-Pro production records and assists Head Cooks to ensure guidelines are followed.
  • Establishes and oversees contests to increase participation for National School Breakfast and Lunch weeks.
  • Tracks Professional Standards for all food service staff to ensure yearly continued education is met.
  • Adds new employees to the Point of Sale system.
  • Prepares beginning of the year folders for cooks including calendars, policies, pay schedules, and contact lists.
  • Places food orders with vendors as needed.
  • Obtains substitute staff and works in kitchens during substitute shortages.
  • Collects documentation for the Serving Up Success employee recognition program.
  • Coordinates the Summer school breakfast and lunch program.
  • Manages end-of-year communications for senior families regarding lunch account balances, donations, or refunds.
  • Processes refunds for families who move out of the district.
  • Coordinates with Payschools to select families for income verification and manages the outreach process.
  • Oversees the Wellness Committee.
  • Stays current on positioning and marketing of other school district nutrition programs.
  • Completes required annual Continued Education, Civil Rights training, and HACCP training.
  • Maintains outstanding attendance and punctuality.
