About The Position

The Supervisor of Domestic & Sexual Violence Advocacy is responsible for overseeing the daily functions of individual advocacy services, including medical, legal, and institutional advocacy and crisis intervention support. Responsible for the management and operation of the 24-hour Sexual Assault Hotline and DV/SA medical/legal advocacy response. Provides on-call coverage and support for assigned and rotating shifts as part of our 24-hour hospital crisis response. Provides supervision to advocates and assists them with evaluating the necessary steps to plan and coordinate with police officers, sex crimes detectives, and the State's Attorney Office to ensure proper charges are pursued and filed. Supports advocates with caseload management, identifying resources and referrals, ensuring quality of care, and support with proper documentation and administrative tasks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Criminal Justice, Gender Studies, Psychology, or Social Work required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted in lieu of required degree.
• At least 3 years of experience providing advocacy services to survivors of violence.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience is required.

• Personal vehicle needed for transportation to/from office locations, courthouses, hospitals, or other community-based events. Mileage for authorized work-related purposes is reimbursable.

Nice To Haves

• Illinois 60-hour DV/SA training preferred.
• Experience supervising staff in programs that provide 24/7/365 services is also required.
• Program development and data management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to hiring and training staff; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance, providing coaching and development, addressing concerns, and resolving problems, and completing administrative documentation.
• Participates in and monitors daily program service delivery, ensures that services are delivered as indicated by program requirements.
• Oversees service delivery of legal, civil, and general advocacy which includes volunteer training and in-service training for DV/SA staff .
• Ensures compliance with governmental and private funders of these components; specifically, VAWA, VOCA and VCVA mandates regarding proposed client numbers and hours, and adherence to program standards.
• Maintains and develops relationships with partners including courthouse staff, partner agencies, partner hospitals, etc. to monitor service quality, assess client needs, assess service gaps, and restructures program needs as applicable.
• Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively.
• Schedules staff for the monthly hotline on-call calendar for assigned and rotating shifts as part of the 24-hour hospital crisis response .
• Provides back-up coverage as needed for the PCH Rape Crisis Hotline and /or CMH back up rotation.
• Provides individual supervision to Advocacy Program staff and convenes team meetings regarding service provision, case consultation and program effectiveness.
• Provides supervision and consultation to program staff regarding interaction with legal advocacy clients, law enforcement and court personnel, hospitals, interaction with educators, school administrators, community partners, and stakeholders.
• Ensures regular training and refresher trainings are conducted and completes an ongoing assessment of advocates' needs to support survivors.
• Gathers information and problem solves client crises, systems issues that arise, and requests from service communities within the parameters of PCH program procedures. Consults with VP as needed.
• Ensures monthly reports are submitted on time, audited, and entered into projection tracking system.
• Participates in monthly line of service meetings and facilitates at least biweekly DV/SA program meetings.
• Attends and facilitates meetings as needed including committee membership with ICASA and/or ICADV as well as with other partner agencies as applicable to program services.
• Assists with maintaining program memorandum of understanding agreements and/or active networking relationship agreements with medical, police, State's Attorneys and court personnel/systems.
• Works with VP to ensure efficient client flow process, including screening, intake and wait list issues that arise.
• Assists with ICASA and ICADV trainings and organizational activities as needed.
• Participates in department, program, line of service, and organizational meetings, as required.
• Responsible for completing position and organizational required trainings, and staying informed of all policies, procedures and regulations which apply to the position.
• Other duties as assigned.
