About The Position

Unity House of Troy is seeking a mission-driven and experienced leader to serve as our Director of Domestic & Sexual Violence Services. This position provides leadership and oversight for a comprehensive domestic and sexual violence program dedicated to supporting survivors with safety, dignity, and empowerment. This is an opportunity to lead a critical, life-saving program that directly impacts survivors while strengthening the community. The Director will help shape services, expand initiatives, and ensure survivors receive trauma-informed, compassionate, and comprehensive care. As a senior leader within the agency, the Director is responsible for program operations, staff development, community representation, regulatory compliance, and strategic growth while ensuring services align with Unity House’s mission, values, and best practices. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or a related field required
  • Minimum 7 years of experience working with victims of domestic and sexual violence
  • Minimum 5 years of management or administrative leadership experience
  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid New York State driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Reliable phone access
  • Strong leadership, supervision, and team-building abilities
  • Ability to motivate, mentor, and develop staff
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience managing budgets and financial goals
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Skilled in conflict resolution and collaborative problem-solving
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for a large, multi-service domestic and sexual violence program.
  • Develop and implement procedures and systems that ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
  • Lead quality assurance and continuous improvement efforts across programs.
  • Develop and manage annual service outcome plans and program budgets.
  • Monitor income and expenses to meet financial goals and maintain fiscal responsibility.
  • Ensure compliance with funders, regulators, auditors, and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee accurate and timely client documentation, billing, and grant reporting.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, evaluate, and develop program staff.
  • Prepare program sites for regulatory and funder monitoring visits.
  • Participate in agency-wide strategic planning and implementation.
  • Serve as a liaison between program staff, agency leadership, Board members, and program participants.
  • Integrate agency priorities and strategic initiatives into program operations.
  • Provide guidance on agency initiatives, contracts, and service development.
  • Monitor emerging legislation and regulations impacting domestic and sexual violence services.
  • Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and agency policies.
  • Represent Unity House in community coalitions, collaborative networks, and professional forums.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, funders, and regulators.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and spokesperson on domestic and sexual violence.
  • Identify emerging trends and develop new initiatives to meet evolving community needs.
  • Assist with grant development, funding opportunities, and reporting.
  • Support agency communications including presentations, media responses, and community events.
