About The Position

Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Supervisor, Nursing and Patient Care services to join our IMCU, Acute Cardiac and medical surgical team! This is a full time, Night shift role in Suffolk, VA. Hours/Days : 5PM to 3AM Monday to Thursday on Week 1, 9PM to 7AM Tuesday to Friday Week 2. Occasional Weekend and Holiday call support required. Areas this role will support: The Supervisor, Nursing and Patient Care Services RN will support 3 departments, 2 South (Cardiac Med-Surg, Intermediate Care Unit, and 3 North (general med-surg). This position will serve as a resource to the departments and will assist with performing unit audits and real-time coaching of team members. The Acute Cardiac/Stroke Unit at Sentara Obici Hospital provides care for patients with cardiac conditions including heart failure, cardiac rhythm disturbances, newly implanted permanent pacemakers and defibrillators, post- coronary interventions, post-ablation, myocardial infarctions. 2 South also cares for pre/post catheterization, acute stroke, and post procedural neuro cases. The Supervisor, Nursing and Patient Care Services is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the healthcare facility during their shift, ensuring high-quality patient care, safety, and staff efficiency. This position serves as the primary liaison between departments, providing leadership, direction, and support to nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare providers. The Supervisor is also tasked with coordinating patient flow, managing staffing levels, responding to emergencies, and addressing any operational issues that may arise throughout their shift.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN (required)
  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • 1 year of previous management experience OR 2 years' experience in a support leadership RN position, (Required)
  • 3 years of nursing experience (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • MSN (Preferred)
  • Professional Specialty Nursing Certification preferred
  • 5+ years of nursing experience preferred
  • Medical Surgical or Oncology background preferred
  • Staff development and retention
