Franciscan Health Lafayette East Campus 1701 S Creasy Ln Lafayette, Indiana 47905 The Supervisor Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities and specialized functions of the MRI section. This position collaborates with the imaging leadership, medical director, or designee in the development or modification of test procedures and protocols. The Supervisor monitors work performed to maintain optimal timeliness, accuracy, proficiency, efficiency, and safety of MRI staff, including ensuring the maintenance of discipline within their section and providing a familiar and structured base to meet accreditation processes for accrediting bodies. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT Monday - Friday Operate equipment for imaging and anything related on various areas of the body in order to provide high quality images and information for patient diagnosis. May perform exams under the general categories of neuroradiology, musculoskeletal, abdominal, breast, pediatric, cardiac, and MR guided procedural scans. Explain the MRI process to the patient in a way that is informative and reassuring to the patient by providing clear instructions and answering questions. Address patient concerns before, during, and after the procedures. Position patient for scan according to patient ability and comfort, and immobilize patients as required. Review all MRI patient safety information prior to exam and screens all patients so exams are performed in a safe manner. Sterilize and clean radiologic equipment. Perform aseptic techniques according to established standards of care and infection control. Ensure all equipment is safe for use and free of any unhealthy bacteria. Inspect images for quality, formatting and labeling before submitting to the Radiologist for interpretation. Review all MRI requisitions for clinical information before presentation to radiologist for proper imaging protocol. Perform quality improvement. Collect data, conduct patient surveys, and cooperate with quality assurance teams. Evaluate the technical quality of their exams and use different techniques to elevate this quality. Collaborate with other parties to resolve MRI quality issues. Assists with HFAP, ISDH, and other survey readiness to maintain ACR accreditation. Collaborates on patient medical issues with the physician to determine protocol and procedure. Calculates and reviews time cards and attendance. Completes all exams and procedures; identifies optimal images for physician review. Develops programs to meet requirements and support ACR, HFAP, ISBOH, IDPH, IEMA accreditations as required. Educates new and current staff on new and existing procedures and exams. Participates in people management activities for unit team members such as performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and interviews. Practices established patient safety guidelines, utilizing universal precautions and infection control. Provides technical assistance to physician and other medical personnel. Researches, develops, and maintains technical policy, exam and procedure manual; implements new exams and procedures to maintain progressive department. Schedules and delegates work assignments to coworkers according to department needs effectively and efficiently.
