About The Position

To supervise and direct the day-to-day activities of closing audit team. Collaborate with management to ensure activities are in alignment with department goals and objectives. Supervise, coordinate, and oversee comprehensive and quantitative analyses relating to credit acumen, operational functions, workflow, processes, and other business unit related issues. Establish Assess performance standards, key performance indicators, and tracking methods to measure performance. Provide mortgage closing and funding consulting and expert advice to employees and all levels of management.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of Mortgage closing and funding of conventional, Portfolio, Equity, VA loans & RESPA guidelines
  • Advanced knowledge of Navy Federal mortgage products, services, programs, policies and procedures
  • Significant experience working in a high volume, fast paced environment
  • Significant experience in leading, guiding and mentoring others
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulations, instructions and procedures
  • If selected, will be required, prior to the assumption of employment duties, to register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry; includes fingerprinting and background checks
  • Effective skill maintaining accuracy with attention to detail and meeting deadlines
  • Effective word processing and spreadsheet software skills
  • Advanced organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Advanced skill applying lending principles, financial practices and evaluation of creditworthiness to make credit decisions

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, plan, direct, coordinate and review the work of Closing audit team who engage in the in-depth review of Mortgage closers and Funders credit decisions and investigation of members' mortgage and equity loan applications to ensure quality, accuracy, and integrity.
  • Conduct quality review audits of loan files and ensure NFCU's compliance with federal, state and local regulations and statutes pertaining to first mortgage loans and Equity, including verifying that staff is diligent in reviewing loans to avoid RESPA and CFPB violations
  • Coach staff to improve productivity to meet section goals
  • Train and monitor mortgage loan closing and funding staff in NFCU's procedures to ensure compliance with Federal laws, as well as NFCU, NCUA and secondary market practices (VA, HUD, FNMA, FHLMC, and GNMA) guidelines and regulations
  • Train loan closing audit staff in settlement procedures, review of title binders and surveys and document review/control to ensure the creation of valid and marketable liens
  • Supervise the preparation of loan closing instructions and disbursement of the loan proceeds to approved settlement agents
  • Detect errors and initiate or arrange for corrective action; ensure resolution
  • Ensure section objectives, production goals, standards, and strategies are executed and align with division priorities
  • Establish positive work environment, open communication and accountability; resolve technical or resource issues
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to Project Manager, team and/or management
  • Involved in driving continuous process improvement to increase member experience quality; reduce losses; minimize financial risk and maintain high operational efficiency
  • Ensure adequate/skilled staffing; select employees
  • Prepare, conduct and review performance appraisals
  • Develop, mentor and counsel staff
  • Performs other duties as assigned or appropriate
