About The Position

Coordinates all mortgage lending activities to meet the lending goals of the Credit Union in compliance with credit union and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Three years to five years of similar or related experience in a supervisory role.
  • Extensive knowledge of consumer, commercial and real estate lending practices and procedures. Demonstrated experience serving as a subject matter expert having thorough knowledge of all agency underwriting guidelines to include Fannie Mae and Desktop Underwriting guidelines, Freddie Mac and Loan Prospector guidelines, FHA underwriting guidelines, and secondary market investor underwriting guidelines.
  • Proficiency in all aspects of first mortgage lending practices including, but not limited to, origination, processing, underwriting, funding, secondary market and servicing.
  • A high school education or GED.
  • Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
  • Experience with mortgage lending software and other applications, MS Office programs and office equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee the timely processing, underwriting, closing, and delivery of all first and home equity mortgage applications while maintaining the highest levels of service to staff and applicants.
  • Proven capability of implementing accurate and effective quality control systems for loan packets to include checklists that ensure support personnel are performing their tasking correctly to include ongoing monitoring.
  • Responsible for understanding, adhering to, and complying with Lending and Credit Union compliance regulations.
  • Responsible for understanding, adhering to, and complying with Bank Secrecy Act requirements and the Credit Union's Bank Secrecy Act policies and procedures. Responsible for reporting suspicious activity to the proper authority in accordance with the Credit Union's Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently works to raise the level of the performance of the Mortgage Lending Department. Coach, monitor, and track the opening, processing, underwriting, closing and post-closing areas of the first mortgage and home equity lending department. Employs effective pipeline management processes to ensure all deadlines are met. Ensure compliance to HOEPA, HMDA, CFPB and all regulatory guidelines. Ensures adherence to secondary market standards. Ensures members receive the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Approves loans within established policies and underwriting guidelines, allocates work, coaches staff.
  • Provides guidance and training to lending support areas of the Credit Union including the call center and branch operations.
  • Communicates regularly with management regarding lending issues, policy exceptions and status of goals.
  • Maintains satisfactory department audit results through continued monitoring of loan preparation in compliance with regulations.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.
