About The Position

The Supervisor Maintenance is responsible for committing to the work plans, executing the plans and schedules, and providing oversight to the work assigned to that group. Safety, environmental compliance, productivity and quality are all critical responsibilities of the Maintenance. The Supervisor Maintenance is responsible for identifying and addressing barriers in the workplace and following all aspects of the Duke Energy work management program. The Supervisor Maintenance must also effectively communicate the plans and direction of the organization to the workforce. The Supervisor Maintenance is responsible for the employee development and performance management of the assigned maintenance craft in the work group.

Requirements

  • Associates degree
  • 3 years related work experience
  • In lieu of Associates degree and 3 years’ experience, High School/GED and 7 years related work experience
  • Must be able to read, comprehend, inspect, calculate, count, retain and make sound decisions.
  • Valid driver's license

  • Working knowledge of the overall operating fundamentals and principles of generating station systems, equipment and processes
  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills

  • Familiarity with PowerPlan and Capital Budgeting process
  • Previous supervisor experience
  • 5-7 years of plant maintenance experience
  • Strong trouble shooting skills
  • Experience with supervising collective bargaining unit employees
  • Familiar with Maximo
  • Strong background in work management process
  • I&C and Electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Must also have the ability to be respirator qualified.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with all operational, environmental and other regulatory and policy compliance requirements.
  • Monitors station environmental, health and safety objectives and ensures they are met.
  • Provides leadership and accountability in order to achieve desired safety results (Lock Out Tag Out compliance, safety meeting attendance, safety policies/procedures, work practices, etc.)
  • Communicates performance metrics and expectations to direct reports
  • Provides leadership and direction in the development and implementation of best practice routines, work process improvement, maintenance and operation procedures.
  • Supervise and manage plant maintenance following company guidelines and the Operating Model, meeting power generation requirements, and completing planned activities as scheduled.
  • Provide leadership and support for incident reporting process, including fact-finding investigations, decision-making problem-solving analysis, etc.
  • Counsels, trains, evaluates, develops, guides and assists assigned personnel relative to job performance and duties
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships between departments and internal customers
