About The Position

As part of the Imaging Services Team, the Imaging Services Supervisor provides supervisory and technical support for the department. Provides for the appropriate and efficient day to day technical operations in the delivery of departmental services that meet or exceed customer needs and requirements. Under the direction of the Manager of Imaging Services, The Imaging Services Supervisor will lead daily operational functions to include, but not limited to patient/customer satisfaction, administrative responsibilities, equipment oversight, quality assurance, and clinical performance. In addition, the position is responsible for assisting the Manager of Imaging Services in planning, organizing, and directing the overall imaging operations across assigned Keck Medicine of USC outpatient clinic locations. This position will foster a collaborative environment across assigned regional imaging modalities.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent
  • Specialized/technical training Graduate of an AMA approved 2-year Radiologic Technology Program.
  • 2 years Experience in a Supervisory or Lead Technologist role.
  • 5 years Experience as a staff technologist in any imaging modality.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak, read and write English proficiently.
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively work with physicians, staff, and patients.
  • Organization/time management skills.
  • Knowledge of Excel, Microsoft word, and data management.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
  • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) R.T., CT, or MR(ARRT)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the supervision of the Imaging Staff at assigned clinic locations, including scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation to ensure optimal workflow and patient throughput.
  • Maintains a quality assurance program – monitoring, documenting, and reporting records including, but not limited to compliance, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
  • Responsible organization, planning and directing activities relating to patients, procedures and department workflow.
  • Responsible for maintaining departmental supplies to par levels set.
  • Responsible for facilitating cross training of personnel where possible.
  • Oversees completion of daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual Quality Control of the imaging department, as well as documenting on QC log sheets
  • Responsible for the competencies and evaluation process of the department's staff.
  • Responsible for reporting quality control, quality assurance and radiation safety issues to the department director.
  • Supervises and maintains department staffs CEU’s and current licenses.
  • Responsible for the timely repair and servicing of all departmental equipment.
  • Willingly performs other related duties, task or project outside immediate work area as assigned or required (i.e., scheduling, clerical) by the Department Director.
  • Is a mentor to and is a source of information for students and less experienced Technologist.
  • Is an ambassador of good will when interacting with all staff members and other departments.
  • Uses the chain of command appropriately to communicate any concerns with the department, co-workers or medical staff.
  • Exhibits organizational skills and utilizes time efficiently.
  • Position requires availability via text/phone while on duty use of pager while on duty and after hours including nights and weekend.
  • Takes a leadership role in the development of service resources to accomplish daily task.
  • Handles difficult situations in a discreet and professional manner.
  • Demonstrates ability to react and respond appropriately to emergency situation.
  • Demonstrates ethical behavior in decision making and the performance of services.
  • Assists maintaining technical staff license records.
  • Maintains staff/patient confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates respect and cooperation in all staff relationships, and a genuine willingness to prevent or resolve interpersonal conflict.
  • Demonstrates the ability to participate in and/or implement team decisions.
  • Scans all paper work into Synapse, uses the Note page to document all exam information for the Radiologist.
  • Confirms that at the end of the shift all exams are completed in Synapse and released in Cerner system.
  • Performs Universal protocols prior to performing procedures.
  • May need to attend multi-disciplinary conference.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
