About The Position

Responsible for all work performed in Graphics/Prepress Department. Manage production in the department: responsible for productivity, quality, timeliness, and cost control of work in department. Supervise, select, and train skilled employees. Assign work and give instructions to personnel. Plan, organize, influence and control issues related to efficient processes and effective personnel. Work cooperatively with other production supervisors and customer service/sales personnel. Must be knowledgeable in all tasks. Reviews, assists with planning and scheduling of jobs with Production Managers to assure production goes according to customer need/expectation, including attendance and participation in Production Meetings and Foreman's Meetings. Manages work. Schedules the work flow through the department to assure efficiency and cost control. Makes work assignments, gives instructions pertaining to jobs and answers questions personnel have about their work. Works closely with Production Managers in planning efficient prepress production. Sees that employees are properly trained. Proactively seeks new and better ways for employees to do their jobs, making the best use of human resources and technology. Keeps abreast of new methods, processes and procedures in order to keep up-to-date. Responds to suggestions from others for product and process improvements. Responsible for the control of spoilage in the department. Emphasizes the need for quality in the work performed and spot checks the work done by department personnel. Holds team accountable. Provides regular feedback to employees and documents accordingly. Works closely with the human resources on personnel issues, including but not limited to: hiring, disciplinary, promotion and termination issues. Orders supplies for department, as needed. Reviews schedule vacations in the department. Possess strong problem-solving, decision-making and organizational abilities. Desires personal growth and development of leadership and managerial abilities. Enforces all company rules and policies consistently; especially in regards to safety. Performs duties in accordance with all federal, state, local, Union and company rules.
