The Supervisor Environmental Services assists in planning and coordination of the Environmental Services department to ensure that the health care facility is thoroughly cleaned and maintained. This role also assists with the hiring and training of new employees, manages the performance of department employees through education, direction and performance management, and orders and manages supplies, linen and equipment as needed. Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description
  • 2+ years of housekeeping experience
  • 2+ years of experience in supervising staff, preferably in a health care setting

Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning and coordination of the Environmental Services department to ensure that the health care facility is thoroughly cleaned and maintained.
  • Develops workflow patterns and prepares cleaning schedules.
  • Develops employee work schedules to maintain adequate daily staffing.
  • Assists in department quality assurance activities and reporting.
  • Supervises the performance of department employees.
  • Completes and delivers employee performance reviews.
  • Coordinates employee staff meetings and may hold daily department huddles.
  • Conducts employee coaching and corrective action process as needed.
  • Resolves employee conflict.
  • May develop resource manuals for department.
  • Orders and manages supplies, linen and equipment as needed.
  • Evaluates new supplies and equipment.
  • Manages and records expenses keeping all purchases within budget.
  • Responsible for maintaining documentation.
  • May monitor hazardous waste disposal process.
  • Acts as a liaison with facility department managers and coordinators in providing environmental services.
  • Assists with the hiring of new employees to the department including reviewing applications and participating in interviews.
  • Provides orientation to new department staff.
  • Collaborates with service employee’s international union (SEIU) union representatives in promoting a safe and effective work environment.
  • Monitors key performance improvement activities (e.g., goals, key indicators, data collection, and effectiveness of process change).
  • Assists with department reporting, monitor waste disposal process.
  • Accountable for the hiring of new employees to the department including reviewing applications and participating in interviews, conduct performance reviews, coordinate employee staff meetings, hold daily huddles, employee relation matters, etc.
  • Arranges continued department education and training.
  • Processes timecards each pay period.
  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations, standards and professional standards related to work space design, labor, transport, and maintenance and operations of environmental services.
  • Other duties as assigned.
