Under the supervision of the Project Engineer: Plans and supervises the work of Engineering Inspector IIs and is responsible for all permit reviews and inspection in designated areas of the county. Performs the most advanced and complex inspection assignments and serves as the technical expert concerning area activities. Informs and confers with the Permit Engineer regarding emergencies, unexpected changes to the design of project or traffic control issues. Coordinates inspection coverage during absences. Must perform duties in a professional and courteous manner to promote a positive image of the Road Commission for Oakland County. Requires a daily schedule that supports RCOC hours of operation. Regular and predictable onsite job attendance is an essential function of this position. Special Experience/Education A high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible technical experience in highway design and engineering which involved construction and/or permit inspection activities Experience as the lead or supervisor of support staff employees, or equivalent experience.
