About The Position

The Electrical Supervisor supervises, monitors, and performs electrical work for various departments. This role involves inspecting work and providing experienced technical assistance and direction. Key responsibilities include supervising, administering, and supporting electrician technicians, delegating tasks, planning, implementing, coordinating, monitoring compliance, and evaluating policies and procedures. The supervisor is also responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and facilitating the success of electricians, overseeing performance evaluations, feedback, disciplinary actions, and professional development, as well as processing payroll and resolving personnel issues. The position requires analyzing, evaluating, and ensuring daily goals are met to increase productivity, overseeing the department budget, and tracking revenue and expenses for electrical projects. Managing equipment, inventory, tools, and materials is crucial to ensure effective operations. The supervisor provides quality customer service, resolves issues and complaints, and collaborates with other staff. Daily checks and cleaning of equipment are necessary for safe operation, identifying issues, providing technical expertise for challenging electrical projects, and assuming responsibility for their completion. Additionally, the supervisor provides leadership for special projects and events throughout the City, monitoring electrical equipment for effective operation and service, and performing any other trades work as needed.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of electrical maintenance, repair, installation, and safety.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and regulations.
  • Ability to supervise, lead, and provide technical expertise to other electricians.
  • Ability to prioritize work, estimate projects, and perform project management.
  • Ability to read various complex schematic diagrams and blueprints.
  • Ability to use and instruct in various types of hand tools, power tools, precision testing and/or troubleshooting equipment.
  • Ability to understand technical terminology of the specialization assigned.
  • Customer service and conflict resolution.
  • Communicating effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong and effective relationships.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Five (5) years of electrical experience.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory or lead work responsibilities.
  • State of Texas Journeyman Electrician license.
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.
  • Ability to obtain a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within probationary period (for some positions).

  • Recruits, hires, trains, and facilitates the success of electricians; oversees performance evaluations, feedback, disciplinary actions, and professional development; processes and approves payroll and supervises the handling of personnel issues and resolving conflict.
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and ensures daily goals are met in a timely manner and works to increase productivity; oversees the preparation of and evaluates, implements, and administers the department budget; tracks and oversees revenue and expenses while monitoring electrical projects.
  • Manages equipment, inventory, tool, and material inventory; ensures availability of appropriate equipment to ensure effective operations.
  • Provides quality customer service and competent public interaction; resolves issues and concerns, addresses complaints, and collaborates with other staff to address problems.
  • Checks and cleans equipment daily to ensure proper, safe operation; identifies issues that need greater attention, provides technical expertise for challenging electrical projects, and assumes responsibility for completion of electrical work.
  • Provides leadership for special projects and events throughout the City; monitors and supervises electrical equipment to ensure effective operation and service throughout the City.
  • Performs any and all other trades work as needed or assigned.
