About The Position

The Supervisor of Education and Training oversee the development, delivery, and evaluation of clinical training for AmCare. This role ensures compliance with the state's EMS regulations, company policies, and accreditation standards while supporting high quality patient care. Responsibilities include coordinating initial and ongoing education for field team members, managing continuing education and credentialing, supporting new team member onboarding, conducting skills evaluation, and assisting with quality improvement. The Supervisor works collaboratively with operations, medical direction, and leadership to identify training needs, implement evidence- based practices, and promote a culture of safety, professionalism and lifelong learning.

Requirements

  • Maintain a current VT Paramedic Certification.
  • Possess current AHA BLS, ACLS and PALS Cards or ability to obtain within 180 days of hire
  • Certified EVOS Instructor, or ability to obtain within 180 days of hire
  • Two years of active EMS experience.
  • 19 years or older at time of hire.
  • Possess a current, valid driver’s license.
  • Have an acceptable driving record as determined by the company’s insurance carrier.
  • Maintain the ability to drive company vehicles.
  • Ability to pass lift test 150 – 200 lbs.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen, and all subsequent random or for cause drug screening.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Will be available for recall in times of crisis.
  • Ability to read, speak, and write English

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in training or instruction.
  • Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS), Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook/Teams, Traumasoft software.
  • Ability to work cohesively with management, staff, and the public.
  • Experience in implementing education and public relations programs with partner agencies.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a high level of autonomy.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and lead EMS new hire orientation programs to ensure consistent onboarding, cultural integration, and readiness for field deployment.
  • Establish orientation standards and expectations related to professionalism, engagement, attendance, and policy compliance.
  • Partner with Operations and HR to ensure new hires meet all clinical, educational, and credentialing requirements prior to field clearance.
  • Develop and deliver remedial, refresher, and retraining programs for EMS providers as needed.
  • Ensure retraining is objective, educational, and aligned with quality improvement goals, not punitive in nature. Organizes monthly training to ensure the core content of all licensure levels are covered over a 2-year period to coincide with the NREMT certification and Vermont state licensing requirements.
  • Plans and organizes BLS/ACLS/PALS initial and renewal course throughout the year.
  • Provides EMS driver education, including NAEMT EVOS instruction, policy review, and best practice reinforcement for safe ambulance operations.
  • Conducts remedial driver training for employees following preventable accidents, policy violations, or performance concerns,
  • Oversees crew members in compliance with re-licensure, manages the company NREMT and VECTOR pages. Offers guidance to crew members as needed.
  • Complete Employee N95 FIT Tests.
  • Complete accurate and comprehensive Lift Testing on all employees in accordance with the company’s Fit for Duty policy.
  • Serve as a Field Training Officer for New Employees.
  • When not actively engaged in scheduled education, onboarding, or retraining activities, the Education and Training Supervisor may be assigned to rotating, scheduled shifts on an ambulance to support operational needs.
  • While assigned to a truck, the supervisor will perform patient care within their certified scope of practice and in accordance with all organizational policies, protocols, and state regulations.
  • Field shifts are intended to maintain clinical competency, operational awareness, and field credibility, while supporting system readiness and staffing needs.
