About The Position

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Supervisor for our Cath Lab to join our Cardiac Cath Lab team at our University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. This position is responsible for assisting the Manager/Director with department operations. This includes supervision of personnel and projects as delegated, including but not limited to human resources management, patient care practice, quality and safety, regulatory compliance, finance, and other operational accountabilities. This position is a working supervisor role for Cath Lab (EP/CV/Structural Procedures) Department. A portion of time will be spent in direct patient care and a portion of time will be dedicated to unit leadership. Schedule:This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) position scheduled Monday through Friday, working 10-hour day shifts.

Requirements

  • Associate of Science
  • 3 years Cath Lab or ECMO experience
  • RespiratoryTherp Registered RRT
  • ARRT Radiology Tech
  • RCIS/RCES Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross) BLS and ACLS Certification

Nice To Haves

  • B.S./B.A. within 12 months
  • 1 year Supervisor experience
  • 5 years Working in Cath Lab
  • Experience in multiple roles within EP/CV/Structural Cases

Responsibilities

  • Direct Patient Care
  • Provides direct patient care in accordance with established standards of practice.
  • Ensures continuity, safety, and quality of patient care delivery.
  • Establishes and models best practices for patient care.
  • Patient Care Coordination
  • Coordinates and plans daily work assignments with the care team.
  • Facilitates physician involvement in patient care.
  • Accommodates flex staffing to support emergent or changing patient care needs.
  • Follows clinical and procedural protocols to ensure consistent care delivery.
  • Staffing and Workforce Management
  • Assists with staffing plans and schedule development.
  • Recruits, interviews, and selects qualified staff.
  • Reviews departmental staffing needs and FTE allotments to align with operational demands.
  • Training, Education, and Staff Development
  • Provides initial training and orientation for new staff.
  • Coordinates ongoing education to support changes in clinical practice and protocols.
  • Coaches and mentors staff to improve clinical outcomes.
  • Validates staff competencies and maintains required documentation.
  • Provides in‑service education and maintains appropriate training records.
  • Process Improvement and Policy Support
  • Identifies opportunities to improve workflows and operational efficiency.
  • Leads and supports change initiatives as appropriate.
  • Evaluates new supplies and equipment and makes recommendations.
  • Maintains records related to equipment and resources.
  • Recommends policy and procedure updates to leadership as needed.
  • Performance Management and Coaching
  • Participates in and completes staff performance appraisals.
  • Coaches employees for performance improvement and professional growth.
  • Ensures productivity, quality outcomes, and service standards.
  • Fosters a culture of respect, teamwork, and accountability.

  • Daily Operations and Leadership
  • Directs and prioritizes daily departmental operations.
  • Prepares staff assignments to ensure efficient and productive use of resources.
  • Plans employee work schedules and manages FTE usage.
  • Minimizes overtime through proactive staffing and workload management.
  • Assesses operational challenges and implements effective problem‑solving strategies.
  • Ensures smooth operations in support of patient care needs.
  • Manages projects and assignments to ensure quality and compliance standards are met.
  • Reports equipment repair needs to maintain operational safety and functionality.
  • Supports and administers departmental policies and procedures.
