About The Position

Bring your passion and interest for Cardiovascular to our Cath Labs where our cohesive teams work all together better to serve our patients when they need us most. Your attention to detail and ability to be responsive to the care of our patients while working together with other Care Team members of the Cath Lab team will be vital to success. Work amongst a robust team including talented Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, Registered Nurses and more towards the well-being of our patients. Key Position Details: $7,500 Starting Bonus available for eligible external talent 1.0 FTE (80 hours per two-week pay period) 10-hour day/evening shifts Weekend on-call Job Description: The Cardiovascular Procedural Technologist works directly with the cardiologist, nurse, and other staff during cardiac interventional, peripheral vascular and/or electrophysiology procedures. This position provides a safe and therapeutic environment, has complete knowledge of inventory usage in coronary, structural heart, electrophysiology implants, electrophysiology studies and ablations and peripheral vascular procedures, and provides a sterile environment while assisting in performing these procedures as a scrub, monitor or circulator. In addition, the Cardiovascular Procedural Technologist coordinates, communicates, interprets, and explains patient care services to the patient, their family, health professionals, and others. On call rotation is required above scheduled FTE; must be onsite within 30 minutes of activation.

Requirements

  • Must meet at least one of the following: ◦ Completion of a JRCERT-accredited program of Radiologic Technology or the ARRT-approved equivalent and ARRT Certification or ◦ Graduate of an education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, which uses the standards and criteria established by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Cardiovascular Technology or ◦ Completion of one of the following educational criteria as established by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Qualification Pathways to establish a foundation for RCIS or RCES certification eligibility: A graduate of a diploma, associate, or baccalaureate academic program in a health science (includes, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, nursing or certification as paramedic/EMT)
  • Must meet ONE of the requirements below: ◦ ARRT certification and registration upon hire or ◦ Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) upon hire or ◦ Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) upon hire
  • Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below ◦ Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association ◦ Current ALS certification from the American Red Cross ◦ Allina in-house ACLS training (within 60 days)

  • 1+ years of experience cardiovascular technician, technologist, or radiology technologist in Cardiovascular Lab

Responsibilities

  • Effectively operates laboratory equipment, within scope of licensure: Prepares and operates equipment within department, manufacturer, and federal guidelines.
  • Performs quality control and basic troubleshooting as needed.
  • Promptly reports all equipment problems to appropriate source.
  • Performs scrub role activities.
  • Identifies supplies and equipment needed for the procedure (for example, diagnostic and interventional coronary angiogram procedures, pacemaker and ICD implants, simple and complex ablation procedures, lower leg and upper extremity angiograms, carotid stenting and endovascular procedures.)
  • Ensures a safe and sterile environment for the patient.
  • Practices aseptic technique maintains sterile field and reports/corrects any breaks in sterile technique.
  • Prepares the equipment and competently assists the physician during the procedure.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the cardiac system, including but not limited to the conduction system and associated intracardiac electrocardiographic signals while performing procedures.
  • Assists physicians in monitoring/circulator role.
  • Detects and responds to changing patient conditions, observing EKG, blood pressure, and electrograms.
  • Differentiates basic and complex arrhythmias. Those working in electrophysiology will also assist with cardiac mapping.
  • Records, compiles, and enters patient data accurately into electronic medical record and image retrieval system.
  • Verifies imaging has transferred to imaging storage retrieval system.
  • Maintains safe environment for patient and other staff, using electrical equipment and instruments correctly.
  • Performs sponge, sharps and other counts accurately.
  • Ensures safe environment for patients and care team members Protects self and others from injury by using equipment per manufacturer and department guidelines.
  • Uses transport equipment and body mechanics to protect from injury.
  • Identifies patient with two identifiers Practices good habits of radiation safety.
  • Works with the team to identify ways to improve work practices and efficiencies.
  • Informs manager/supervisor of staff and physician concerns, quality/safety or other department issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
