About The Position

The Community Counseling Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and coordination of quality services and staff of the Community Counseling Program. This position is responsible the day-to-day performance of the program. In addition to the duties and requirements listed below, YFA expects employees to be committed to incorporating principles of trauma-informed care in all areas of service delivery. Commitment to these principles is demonstrated through active participation in agency-required trainings, use of trauma-informed practices, and understanding that trauma-informed environments require cultural sensitivity and an emphasis on a safe and respectful environment for all.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)/Bachelor of Arts (BA) in human services and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in social services, with a minimum of two (2) years in a management/leadership role; OR MSW/MS in human services with a minimum of one (1) year of direct or related experience as a supervisor.
  • Ability to travel regionally on a regular basis, and statewide as needed.
  • Ability to bend, lift, and carry 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises staff and oversees workflow for accuracy, appropriateness, and timeliness.
  • Manages day-to-day operations of the Community Counseling Program within assigned DJJ Circuits.
  • Oversees client data collection and reporting to ensure accuracy and timely entry.
  • Mentors, coaches, and trains team members on completing work assignments.
  • Ensures youth and family services meet requirements under Florida Statutes 984, the Florida Network, and YFA.
  • Ensures systems meet or exceed Quality Assurance and Accreditation standards and recommends improvements.
  • Monitors service delivery, troubleshoots issues, and provides direct services when needed.
  • Tracks required benchmarks and outcome measures.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with community stakeholders (truancy, law enforcement, courts, etc.).
  • Coordinates on-call activities to ensure access to case management and staff support.
  • Communicates appropriately within the chain of command.
  • Participates in community meetings, groups, and program-related trainings.
  • Ensures staff flexibility and responsiveness to program needs and family/youth needs.
  • Reviews and signs assessments and service plans; ensures organized case files with high-quality documentation.
  • Promotes cultural sensitivity and ensures staff do the same.
  • Documents clearly and concisely and trains others to document properly.
  • Assists with interpreting and delivering case and court-related information.
  • Maintains a positive, patient, and respectful approach in challenging environments.
  • Works cooperatively in team settings.
  • Accepts direction and guidance from supervisors.
  • Demonstrates initiative and serves as both a leader and team member.
  • Facilitates groups and manages group dynamics effectively.
  • Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Skilled in active listening and providing a nonjudgmental, safe space for communication.
