About The Position

Are you looking for a nurse supervisor role? You will enhance your critical thinking while engaging with clinical professionals – within the coordination center - to support other member hospitals within the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health system? This is the opportunity for you ! Supervisor Clinical Nurse (RN), Capacity Coordination Center 40 hours p/week, Nights with rotation to weekend Supervises the patient flow and patient transfer functions of the Capacity Coordination Center. Serves as lead, clinical resource, role model and extension of management to uphold policies, procedures and practices. Acts as first point of contact for collaboration on real-time interdepartmental issues.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (e.g. BSN, BA, BS) at time of hire, or degree expected within 36 months of hire.
  • 2 years of progressive responsibility within an acute care setting required.
  • Must obtain and maintain clinical competencies within assigned unit.
  • Excellent written, verbal and computer skills required.
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups at various organizational levels and with various disciplines.
  • Demonstrated abilities with problem solving, leadership, communication, fiscal responsibility and teamwork.
  • Ability to work effectively in groups of employees and with patients and patient families is essential.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse with NH eligibility required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assigns staff to daily tasks taking into consideration DHMC and system hospital capacity, call volumes, anticipated patient movement, and staff skill mix
  • Provides real-time monitoring of volumes and workload and acts as front-line resource to staff
  • Addresses potential barriers to effective capacity coordination and works to mitigate barriers
  • Facilitates workflow processes and flow optimization, quality assurance and protocol compliance
  • Ensures that telemedicine lines utilizing call center/triage service meet service line standards for turnaround time, accuracy, support, coordination of care, clinical documentation and communication, and customer service.
  • Participates in the development and reporting of measures of success and evaluation of clinical/operational outcomes
  • Communicates problems that may compromise patient care to the appropriate departmental leadership
  • Provides management/leadership in crisis situations to prevent or minimize disruption of services
  • Participates in performance management of staff members to include coaching, preparation of performance evaluations and performance management process. Initiates disciplinary action as appropriate.
  • Addresses conflicts as they arise. Involves unit leadership, medical leadership and/or House Supervisor as appropriate.
  • Acts as liaison with outside hospitals regarding capacity coordination in the system
  • Acts as delegate of nurse manager in assigned projects, committees and meetings
  • Performs other duties as assigned
