SUMMARY: Effectively supervise the day-to-day work and team performance for the Assigned Risk operational team to ensure that the goals and standards of the department are being met. Provide operational consistency and integrity to Policy and Claims. Serve as a technical expert with regard to department operations. RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS: Directly supervise the Assigned Risk operational team. Plan, direct, supervise and evaluate the day-to-day operations and workflow of production, policy and claims support, and customer service internal and external. Ensure that team meetings are routinely scheduled to discuss performance results and operational issues. Responsible for staying current on changes in workers' compensation statutes and procedures. Responsible for developing and implementing policies, practices and procedures. Serve as department resource for customer inquiries, brands, enterprise, and vendors. Ensure quality communication and exceptional work product. Compose written responses to policyholder/agent requests, complaints and disputes and provide rational and relevant information in an effort to resolve and educate employer and/or agent. Work with CAOM and ICRB in a professional manner at all times. DIRECTION EXERCISED: Directly supervises non-exempt staff in accordance with company policies and applicable Federal and State Laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to effectively interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and counseling employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems, supporting and encouraging the engagement process. EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in insurance, business or a related field. Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Continuous learning required, as defined by the Company's learning philosophy. Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged. EXPERIENCE: Five years experience of progressive responsibility in a Workers' Compensation environment with demonstrated technical knowledge that provides the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities. W orking knowledge of workers' compensation statutes, filing procedures, policies and claims support. M inimum one year of demonstrated leadership ability in a Workers' Compensation operational environment required. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED: Comprehensive knowledge of workers compensation support operations and oversight process . Demonstrated leadership ability. Knowledge of team-building and employee motivation theories with the ability to effectively supervise multi-functional employee teams. Ability to bridge IT requirements and departmental needs. Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial information. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent analytical skills to identify improvement needs and develop solutions. Ability to effectively exchange information clearly and concisely, present ideas, report facts and other information and respond to questions as appropriate. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to negotiate while creating and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with working partners. Ability and proficiency in the use of computers and company standard software. Ability to establish workflows, manage multiple projects and meet necessary deadlines. Ability to comprehend the consequences of various problem situations and address them or refer them for the appropriate decision-making. Independently resolves most problems. Ability to make competent, sound decisions. Ability to maintain confidentiality. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards. Some travel may be required. Must possess a valid driver's license with a record that meets corporate standards. PAY RANGE: “Actual compensation decision relies on the consideration of internal equity, candidate's skills and professional experience, geographic location, market and other potential factors. It is not standard practice for an offer to be at or near the top of the range, and therefore a reasonable estimate for this role is between $71,900 and $120,350.” We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
