This position is responsible for providing overall supervision of assigned ancillary service areas, which may include safety, environmental services, laundry, maintenance, infection control, and emergency preparedness. The role involves providing leadership and interacting with various health system departments, medical staff, patients, residents, and families. Key functions include planning, organizing, and coordinating specialized programs in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. The supervisor is also tasked with developing and maintaining staff education, creating safety and security standard operating procedures, and ensuring adherence to all applicable guidelines for the service area. This role serves on and/or chairs departmental/organization committees and task forces as needed, and is expected to remain current on safety codes and facility-related regulations. The supervisor acts as a role model, encouraging vision and change projects, assists in hiring, selection, retention, and talent leveraging, and provides feedback on employee performance. Additionally, the position involves assisting in the training and development of staff, fostering positive collaboration, and ensuring all assigned areas meet regulatory requirements. Maintaining current certifications and continuing education in the specialty is also required. The supervisor may be asked to assist with other projects or work assignments as needed by the facility, department, or leadership.
