About The Position

This position is responsible for providing overall supervision of assigned ancillary service areas, which may include safety, environmental services, laundry, maintenance, infection control, and emergency preparedness. The role involves providing leadership and interacting with various health system departments, medical staff, patients, residents, and families. Key functions include planning, organizing, and coordinating specialized programs in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. The supervisor is also tasked with developing and maintaining staff education, creating safety and security standard operating procedures, and ensuring adherence to all applicable guidelines for the service area. This role serves on and/or chairs departmental/organization committees and task forces as needed, and is expected to remain current on safety codes and facility-related regulations. The supervisor acts as a role model, encouraging vision and change projects, assists in hiring, selection, retention, and talent leveraging, and provides feedback on employee performance. Additionally, the position involves assisting in the training and development of staff, fostering positive collaboration, and ensuring all assigned areas meet regulatory requirements. Maintaining current certifications and continuing education in the specialty is also required. The supervisor may be asked to assist with other projects or work assignments as needed by the facility, department, or leadership.

Requirements

Maintains any certifications and/or licensure as required by profession.
Depending on location, current valid driver’s license may be required and must meet all medical guidelines for Sanford Health Category III drivers.
Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
Ability to remain current in knowledge of safety codes and regulations related to facility.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree or trade school
Two years’ experience in related ancillary work
Previous leadership/management experience

Responsibilities

Provides overall supervision of the assigned ancillary service area(s).

Responsible for developing and maintaining staff education.

Expected to demonstrate leadership to employees, serving as a role model, and encouraging vision and change projects.
Assists in hiring, selection, retaining, and leveraging talent across the service areas.
Provides feedback in measuring employee performance.
Assist in the training of new staff members and the development of existing staff members.
Practice positive collaboration and converts difficult interactions into productive ones.
Expected to ensure all assigned areas meet regulatory requirements.
Maintain current certifications in specialty and continues education when necessary.
May be asked to assist with other projects or work assignments as needed by facility, department or leadership.
