About The Position

Firmo is seeking an experienced Superintendent with ground-up commercial construction experience in hospitality (or multifamily) projects to join our team. This role is responsible for leading daily on-site operations for ground-up commercial projects from start through closeout, ensuring a high-quality finished product for our clients. Key responsibilities include overseeing trade partners, enforcing safety and compliance standards, coordinating closely with Project Management, maintaining daily field reporting, leading subcontractor meetings, and driving schedules to deliver projects on time and within budget. This is a full-time, on-site position overseeing ground-up hotel construction. Superintendents are expected to be present on the jobsite daily; this role is not remote. The project is located in Alexander City, Alabama . This individual must… Be a self-motivated problem solver, knowledgeable in multiple divisions of commercial construction, Have experience as a Superintendent on ground-up projects, including Hospitality (or similar), Proficient with construction management software (i.e. Procore), able to learn new software, Value integrity, professionalism, quality workmanship, and positive teamwork, Excel at adhering to deadlines, maintaining a clean jobsite, motivating subcontractors, and communicating with project stakeholders in a professional manner.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of commercial construction experience, primarily ground-up for a General Contractor.
  • Hospitality construction experience preferred (3+ years).
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.
  • Proficient with construction management software and able to quickly learn new platforms.
  • OSHA 30 and CPR certified (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong professional references required.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and move throughout active jobsites for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding.
  • Able to lift, carry, and handle materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to assigned jobsites.

Nice To Haves

  • Hospitality construction experience preferred (3+ years).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all daily activities on Firmo’s job sites, ensuring efficient, safe, and professional execution.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all project documents and ensure work is performed in accordance with the most current approved drawings and specifications.
  • Work closely with Project Management from pre-construction through closeout to successfully manage project schedules and budgets.
  • Actively drive field schedules by sequencing work, coordinating trades, and adjusting plans as needed to meet project milestones.
  • Coordinate, monitor, and inspect the work of all subcontractors and suppliers to ensure quality, compliance, and progress.
  • Manage jobsite logistics, including materials, equipment, deliveries, access, and overall site organization.
  • Complete and upload daily jobsite logs, progress photos, and activity reports using Firmo’s construction management software.
  • Lead weekly jobsite meetings and toolbox talks, fostering clear communication and accountability.
  • Enforce all safety regulations and company safety standards at all times.
  • Identify field issues early and proactively communicate risks, solutions, and recommendations to the Project Manager.
  • Coordinate and manage building inspections through successful approvals.
  • Issue, track, and oversee timely completion of punch list and closeout items.
  • Maintain positive, professional relationships with subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, owners, and internal team members.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry practices and technologies and seek ongoing opportunities for training and professional development.
  • Conduct all jobsite activities with a high standard of professionalism, respect, and attention to safety at all times.
