The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the overall maintenance, management, and conditioning of the golf course, practice areas, and surrounding grounds to ensure the highest standards of playing conditions and aesthetics. This position oversees all aspects of turfgrass management, irrigation, agronomic programs, and landscape care while managing staff, budgets, and equipment to deliver an exceptional golf experience for members and guests.

Requirements

  • Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management , Agronomy , Horticulture , or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in golf course management, with supervisory experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of golf course maintenance practices , irrigation systems , and turfgrass diseases .
  • Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work long and flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required

Responsibilities

  • Plan and supervise all aspects of golf course maintenance including turfgrass, bunkers, greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and landscaping.
  • Develop and implement agronomic plans, including fertility, pest management, and cultural practices.
  • Monitor and manage soil, water, and plant health to maintain optimal playing conditions.
  • Schedule and oversee irrigation system operation, maintenance, and improvements.
  • Maintain detailed records of chemical applications, irrigation, and maintenance activities.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate maintenance staff.
  • Develop work schedules and assign daily tasks to ensure efficient operations.
  • Promote safety, teamwork, and professional conduct within the maintenance department.
  • Oversee maintenance and repair of all golf course equipment and vehicles.
  • Manage equipment inventory and recommend capital purchases or replacements.
  • Ensure maintenance facilities are organized, clean, and compliant with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Prepare and manage annual operating and capital budgets for the maintenance department.
  • Monitor expenses and implement cost-control measures.
  • Communicate regularly with the General Manager on course conditions, projects, and needs.
  • Plan and execute course improvement projects, including renovations, drainage enhancements, and landscaping.
  • Work with architects, contractors, and consultants on major capital projects as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations.
  • Maintain records related to chemical storage, fuel usage, and water management.
  • Promote environmentally responsible practices in all maintenance activities.
