About The Position

South Shore Golf Course is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented  Superintendent to support course operations and lead our dedicated maintenance team. Located along Chicago’s scenic lakefront, South Shore offers a unique blend of historic charm and urban golf. Job Overview This is a full-time leadership role with a strong focus on agronomic planning, team supervision, and hands-on course maintenance. You'll work closely with the Regional Director of Agronomy to ensure the highest playing conditions and support the long-term success of the course.   This position is offered through Indigo Sports, a division of Troon Golf—the industry leader in golf course management, development, and marketing. Requirements

  • 1–3 years of turfgrass management experience preferred
  • Previous supervisory or crew leadership experience preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Word and Excel)
  • Passion for the golf course industry and willingness to grow professionally
  • Working knowledge of budgeting, recordkeeping, and inventory systems

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support daily operations of the maintenance team, including the foreman and irrigation technicians
  • Plan and manage weekly work schedules and task assignments
  • Assist in executing agronomic programs including fertilization and irrigation plans
  • Ensure proper chemical and fertilizer application and maintain accurate records
  • Monitor inventory of maintenance supplies, equipment, and chemicals
  • Conduct and document staff safety meetings regularly
  • Support equipment maintenance and perform hands-on tasks as needed (mowing, spraying, etc.)
  • Track fuel and irrigation usage logs and report accordingly
  • Assist with budget planning and expense tracking
