About The Position

The Production Superintendent is responsible for overseeing daily night shift operations of an assigned site ensuring that production goals are met while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency standards. This role involves leading and managing production teams, coordinating with other departments and providing the support needed as the head management representative on night shift operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or industrial engineering or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as Production Superintendent or comparable manufacturing leadership role.
  • Experience leading and developing highly responsive teams.
  • Experience with quality systems, ISO 9001 and/or IATF16949 preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and in the use of e-mail, web browser applications.
  • Intermediate-advanced math skills. Ability in mathematics, applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations required.
  • Strong analytical, planning skills and critical thinking ability required with orientation for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to understand and follow written technical procedures/instructions
  • Ability to effectively prepare business and technical documentation such as procedures, reports, presentations, etc.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Highly effective, articulate communication skills (verbal & written) with strong interpersonal effectiveness and the ability to work with all levels in the organization and across cultures
  • Bilingual English-Spanish preferred
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively manage a variety of projects and tasks.
  • Take initiative, approach others in a positive and constructive manner, and work well independently to achieve results.
  • 30% desk type work using a computer, phone and other basic office equipment required and 70% of the remaining time should be spent on the production floor, walking, standing, monitoring production and assisting in production as needed.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds individually or team lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures without endangering the health or safety of self or others.
  • Be able to work in an environment that is climate controlled but is exposed to potential heat, rain, and cold.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate all production activities on the plant.
  • Coordinate with other departments on the shift for smooth flow of operations.
  • Ensure that daily, weekly, and monthly production targets are met according to the schedule and customer demand.
  • Hold Supervisors, Group Leaders and Team Leaders accountable for all production related standards and targets.
  • Lead, train, and mentor production supervisors.
  • Set clear performance expectations, provide feedback, and manage performance evaluations for production supervision.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment to ensure high morale and teamwork.
  • Ensure that production processes meet established quality standards and specifications.
  • Work closely with the quality control department to address any product defects or process issues promptly.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, reduce waste, and minimize downtime.
  • Promote and enforce workplace safety practices and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Investigate any accidents or incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Abide by and ensure compliance with company policy, safety policies and 5S expectations established by the company.
  • Collaborate with the Production Manager to adjust production schedules for optimal job sequencing and to meet customer deadlines.
  • Coordinate with other departments such as maintenance, quality control, and supply chain to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Manage resources, including labor, equipment, and materials, to optimize production performance.
  • Identify and address any operational challenges or bottlenecks that arise during a shift.
  • Work with maintenance teams to resolve equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to minimize production delays.
  • Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformance related to productivity or quality.
  • Escalate human resources related concerns to assigned HR Representative and assist as instructed by HR in the resolution of any issues.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as output, quality, efficiency, and downtime, and timely inform the Production Manager of any deviations
  • Analyze production data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and send to production and plant manager daily report of shift operations, reporting performance against daily goals, issues /concerns and proposing solutions to address them.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
