About The Position

A Superintendent of Traffic Signal Installation directs the installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical traffic control devices and related equipment. Work of this class involves directing the activities of installation and maintenance work units. Incumbents receive general supervision from an administrative superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek; subject to callback for emergency situations. Work is performed primarily in an office setting, where there are few uncomfortable working conditions; however, inclement weather and traffic hazards may be encountered at outdoor work sites. Work requires minimal physical exertion.

Requirements

  • Education: Have an associate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience: Have five years of experience in the maintenance and installation of traffic signal devices, traffic engineering or traffic investigation work including two years of such lead responsibilities as assigning, reviewing and approving the work of others.
  • Equivalency Notes: Have an equivalent combination of education and experience. Non-specialized experience or education may not be substituted for the required special experience.
  • Licenses, Registrations, and Certificates: Have a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent driver's license and eligible to obtain a Baltimore City driver’s permit.
  • PROVISIONAL DRIVER’S LICENSE OR LEARNER PERMITS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.
