DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Construct and install new traffic signal systems, including trenching and laying conduit, drilling for foundations, erecting poles and mast arms, installing pole footings, pulling and installing wire, wiring poles and cabinets, setting pull boxes, and completing all related assembly tasks. Maintain and repair existing traffic signals and related equipment, including camera detection systems, inductive loops and detectors, radio systems, railroad pre ‑ emption, fire/optical pre ‑ emption, signal wiring, controllers, and conflict monitors. Install and maintain battery backup units for uninterrupted power supply (UPS) systems. Set up and maintain compliant safety work zones in accordance with International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) guidelines when working near active traffic. Participate in the on ‑ call rotation and respond to after ‑ hours service needs as assigned. Obtain IMSA Traffic Signal Level III certification within two years of hire. Install, maintain, and repair all traffic signal components, including controllers, poles, signal heads, conduit, wiring, vehicle detection systems, and other traffic control devices. Program signal controllers and cabinet components in accordance with owner ‑ provided TSIs and successfully conduct bench testing of cabinets. Train and mentor fellow employees on technical aspects of traffic signal systems, equipment, and operational procedures. Supervises a crew of up to 5 employees, including subcontractors and prioritizes work. Reads and follows plans, material lists and guidelines and applies necessary timelines. Fulfills all regular and advanced installation/construction duties, including project layout, and completes required paperwork in a timely manner. Organizes, supervises, leads, and trains employees to complete projects within established guidelines and time frames. Enforces all company safety policies and procedures. Enforces all client-required safety policies and procedures. Complies with all company policies and procedures and safety requirements, including crewmember discipline and documentation. Reviews electronic employee timecards for accuracy and compliance with company policies. Communicates with employees/supervisors to resolve timecard issues in a timely manner. Submits crewmembers’ timesheets to payroll by deadline. Attends project meetings as required. Submits daily logbooks, traffic logs and JSAs (job site analysis). Maintains and inspects vehicles and equipment. Communication with Inspectors and State Agencies. Any other duties assigned as needed.
