About The Position

The Superintendent of Quality Assurance at Simmons Prepared Foods, Inc. is responsible for directing the Quality Assurance and Food Safety Programs at assigned locations. This role involves overseeing quality assurance procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and maintaining effective communication with facility personnel regarding quality and food safety issues. The position also includes managing teams, conducting internal audits, and ensuring that products meet quality specifications.

Requirements

  • 4 years experience in a quality assurance supervisor/management role.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, food security, sanitation, and quality systems.
  • Experience with HACCP implementation and training.
  • Experience in a food manufacturing operation, particularly batch and continuous process based.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, or related field, or 4 years equivalent work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in HACCP implementation and training.
  • Experience with thermal processing, Organic and EU Certifications programs, and wastewater treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in directing quality, food safety, and regulatory programs.
  • Develop and manage HACCP, GMP, SSOP, and related programs to meet customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure incoming ingredients and finished products meet quality requirements and customer specifications.
  • Maintain open communication with facility personnel on quality issues and topics.
  • Lead and participate in meetings with quality and production personnel.
  • Prepare and maintain written programs and documentation for effective communication of plant programs and quality inspection requirements.
  • Build strong quality assurance and food safety teams and manage staffing to meet business needs.
  • Manage the review of raw material, in-process, and finished product analyses to ensure specifications are met.
  • Oversee internal audits and manage the internal Master Audit Plan.
  • Manage the finished goods Lot Traceability/Mock Recall program.
  • Direct and supervise employees' work activities and monitor performance.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources for hiring and performance management.
  • Participate in team meetings and foster strong team cohesiveness.
