About The Position

The Superintendent, Mining Engineering will lead mine engineering planning and execution for Nevada Projects as we transition into Operations. This role provides technical leadership in mine planning, geotechnical considerations, and project execution while coordinating with cross-functional teams to support safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with mine planning and optimization software (e.g., DataMine, MineSight, Vulcan, Whittle, NPV Scheduler); AutoCAD and GIS experience (ESRI ArcView/ArcMap) preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mineral reserve calculation and evaluation processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, with strong planning, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to analyze, synthesize, and clearly present technical and operational information.
  • Curious, investigative mindset with the ability to solve complex engineering challenges.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline; advanced degree or professional certifications preferred.
  • 7–10 years of mining experience, including at least 5 years in mine planning.
  • Experience managing, mentoring, or developing technical professionals.
  • Knowledge of surface mining equipment and operations.
  • Understanding of applicable safety, environmental, and mining regulations.
  • MSHA training and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to perform computer-based work for extended periods, with reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, including speaking, hearing, and exchanging information.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to operate office equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds as necessary.
  • Ability to organize, analyze, and interpret information required to perform job duties.
  • Ability to follow emergency response procedures and summon appropriate assistance when required.
  • Ability to perform site-based activities, which may include walking, climbing, crouching, kneeling, stooping, crawling, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to traverse uneven terrain during site inspections.
  • Ability to review and interpret technical drawings, maps, and digital displays necessary for field and office work.
  • Ability to travel to project sites, with or without reasonable accommodation. A valid driver’s license is required if operating a company vehicle.
  • May be required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection, during designated field activities, subject to medical clearance and reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and maintenance of short-, medium-, and long-range mine plans, including development, stripping, reclamation, dump and stockpile design, and haulage plans, from concept through detailed design during mine construction.
  • Optimize mine plans to minimize costs and maximize net present value (NPV), and support the annual budgeting process.
  • Conduct and support mine engineering and efficiency studies to improve mine performance and reduce operating costs.
  • Support Nevada District projects by developing executable mine plans based on geological models, reserve development, and life-of-mine extension.
  • Oversee engineering project scope, schedules, budgets, and cost control analyses.
  • Contribute to capital and operational financial planning and cost estimating.
  • Provide technical support for permitting and regulatory activities, including reclamation planning and cost estimates.
  • Interface effectively with internal teams, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies (e.g., BLM, NDEP) during construction and operational phases.
  • Support the future growth of the function, including the potential to manage and develop direct reports.
  • Manage, coach, and develop assigned engineering staff, including performance management, work prioritization, and professional development.
