The Superintendent/Foreman oversees daily site operations for Earthwork projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards, design specifications, budget constraints, and project timelines. This role directly manages lead personnel and on-site staff to drive efficiency and quality. A typical day involves daily communication with General Superintendents regarding job-specific needs, including workforce and equipment requirements, and daily contact with job site crews to ensure project time schedules and workforce needs are met. The role also involves scheduling and monitoring subcontractors, maintaining a safe working environment, conducting daily Job Hazard Awareness meetings, daily stretching, and weekly Tool Box topics. The Superintendent/Foreman completes daily record keeping, including daily logs, equipment schedules, material schedules, and timecards. They manage field personnel fairly and equitably, address staff performance issues, participate in pre-construction and regular job site meetings, and provide timely and accurate documentation for reporting safety issues, equipment damage, and workplace injuries. They ensure all work follows specified quality standards, inspect field work and materials for quality compliance, review manufacturer’s literature and drawings, and respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or business community members. Regular participation in training for construction methods and safety, and supporting training opportunities for staff are also key aspects.
