About The Position

The Superintendent - Electrical – Solar is responsible for coordinating the site electrical construction schedule, execution plan, and managing the daily issues involved during the construction of solar generation project. This position coordinates all electrical site construction activities and supervises all electrical field personnel as required to successfully complete the solar project on schedule and within budget. The Superintendent - Electrical - Solar works diligently to build a safe, high quality, profitable solar project.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED required.
  • 4 or more years of solar construction environment or utility construction environment required.
  • Ability to travel domestically 76-100% required.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s license.
  • Advanced level of knowledge in: Safety and OSHA requirements, Scheduling activities logically, Construction, Interpersonal skills, Planning and task direction, Project Management, Contract management, Budget Analysis and Controls, QA/QC processes, Leadership, Reading prints & drawings, Team building, Mentor and facilitator, Interpretation of scopes of work, Report writing, Writing skills, Communications Internally with executive management, Project Managers, Project Superintendents, HSQE, Engineering department, Finance and Procurement departmental teams. Externally to clients, owners, vendors, consultants, and sub-contractors.
  • Intermediate level of knowledge in: Development of processes and procedures, Mathematics & Science (General), Estimating work efforts, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, HSQE, Presentation skills, Understanding environmental concepts, Interpreting state rules and regulations, Total Productive Management, Total Quality Management, Lean Construction Practices, Survey Practices, Machine Control
  • Basic level of knowledge in: Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Microsoft Project, Drawing review and comment software, Scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera 6), Job costing or accounting software
  • Must have a valid current driver license, eligible for corporate vehicle insurance coverage.
  • Functional competencies include attention to detail, system thinking, accountability, prioritization, and excellence

Responsibilities

  • Oversees all on-site electrical construction activities, including scheduling, resource allocation, and quality control.
  • Manages the project craft plan, participates in the project kick off.
  • Reviews project craft requirements and work plans with General Superintendent and Project Superintendent to ensure alignment with the other projects and the project schedule.
  • Monitors project progress, identifies potential issues, and implements solutions to keep project on track and within financial constraints.
  • Supports Project Superintendent with the initial planning for a project and review during the project.
  • Ensures proper page turn, drawing reviews, and Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) template reviews are completed prior to work commencing.
  • Implements and maintains safety standards, conducting regular site inspections, and ensures compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Utilizes Safety Management Systems (SMS), Quality Managements Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and technical procedures.
  • Communicates with Project Managers, Project Superintendents, General Superintendents and other Discipline Superintendents to ensure smooth workflow and resolve any conflicts.
  • Hires and trains all Foreman and craft labor.
  • Ensures that all craft personnel within their group, have completed all required training and are competent prior to starting work.
  • Ensures that all electrical personnel are qualified under the QEW scheme prior to carrying out any terminations or electrical activities.
  • Guides, and coaches Foremen to ensure activities on site are understood and following established processes through quality checks.
  • Aligns individual and team objectives to department and company objectives.
  • Manages and supports employee development and growth.
  • Provides regular and direct feedback on performance and goal progress.
  • Provides a positive and engaging work environment.
  • Ensures that all personnel within their discipline have all required training including safety, SWI, technical and operations.
  • Aligns with client and company quality program(s).
  • Utilizes SWIs for execution of all tasks within their Discipline to achieve and maintain standard operations across the site.
  • Provide feedback to Project Superintendent and General Superintendent about improvements to the SWIs based on their experience on site.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.
  • Creates a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Manages one or more direct reports.
  • Participates in hiring and selection process to fill positions on the team.

  • Provides tasks and assignments that challenge and stretch employees’ responsibilities.
  • Conducts regular discussions with employee(s) on personal development. Comfortable with empowering others.
