About The Position

Provides leadership and supervision of youth in the completion of assigned tasks and activities. May 25 - August 5. $18-19/hour Monday - Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (some days may require more flexibility in hours due to event schedules) Must be min. 21 years old

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum 20 years of age required.
  • Age requirement may be higher based on site location, local contracts, or Federal/State contract requirements.
  • Ability to communicate in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining necessary degree of confidentiality.
  • Ability to build and sustain trust to facilitate successful, professional relationships.
  • Ability to quickly make decisions in sensitive and sometimes critical areas and to adapt responses to situations while maintaining procedural and regulatory integrity.
  • Knowledge of Boys Town Model.
  • Ability to successfully lead youth in the completion of tasks and redirect inappropriate youth behaviors.
  • Reasonably expected to have and maintain sufficient, agility, and endurance to perform all job requirements (including stressful situations physically, mentally, and emotionally) encountered on the job without compromising their health and well-being or that of their fellow employees, youth, or families.
  • Must have sufficient ability to see, hear, speak, and mobility (including standing and walking continuously for extended periods of time) to monitor youth, assist and perform daily household chores, complete work assignments, and participate in activities with youth.

Responsibilities

  • Provides safe and effective services
  • Adheres to policies related to safety and boundaries with service recipients.
  • Attends safety and abuse risk management training as assigned.
  • Adheres to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising service recipients.
  • Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  • Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements.
  • Provides leadership and supervision of youth
  • Trains and supervises youth in a variety of activities, including work-related, recreational, and academic that develop life skills.
  • Ensures youth safety by encouraging proper use of tools and appropriate peer relations; reports self-harm concerns.
  • Assesses expectations of site and conducts appropriate training for youth.
  • Evaluates and reports youth progress; meets and communicates with appropriate personnel regarding youth progress.
  • Attends training to improve knowledge and implement the Youth Care Program.
  • Performs activities as assigned in both indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Serves as a role model in carrying out activities and behaviors that reflect the values and principles of the Boys Town mission.
