About The Position

Arapahoe Libraries is offering a two-month paid internship program for four teens during the summer. The program aims to introduce students from diverse backgrounds to career opportunities within libraries. Interns will receive mentored learning from librarians and engage in various types of library work, including administration, technology, and patron services. The positions require approximately 10 hours per week, running from June to August, with a pay rate of $18.61 per hour. Applicants must be entering their junior or senior year of high school or first year of college for the 2026-27 school year, with homeschool equivalency also accepted. Interns can choose a preferred library branch as their home base and will have opportunities to work at multiple library locations and participate in offsite outreach. The program emphasizes inclusion and diversity.

Requirements

  • Must be entering their junior or senior year of high school or first year of college for the 2026-27 school year (Homeschool equivalency is also acceptable)
  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Must be able to provide proof they are eligible to work in the United States
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from their selected library location

Responsibilities

  • Engage in different types of library work, from administration to technology to patron services
  • Work on different projects
  • Help with library programs like maker and craft workshops, monthly library programs, and Summer Reading events
  • Work at multiple library locations and offsite outreach
