The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) invites eligible candidates to apply for an internship with the Human Resource Services – Bilingual Facilitation Division. The Human Resource Services – Bilingual Facilitation Division serves internal and external DNR customers by assisting in communication efforts across various platforms. Members of this team facilitate conversations, meetings, workshops and/or training sessions by translating and interpreting information accurately and efficiently between two or more languages. The Bilingual Facilitation Team plays a crucial role in ensuring effective communication and accessibility between the agency and the diverse populations it serves, particularly those with limited proficiency in English. Their collective work supports various programs, services, and public interactions, helping to break down language barriers and ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their primary language, can fully participate in the services DNR offers. Please note, this position is unpaid, for course credit only. The main purpose of this position is to provide translation and interpretation services for the Maryland Park Service, and its guests. The internship will run approximately 16 weeks, from mid-May through early September, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate. The specific start/end dates, hours, and schedule will be determined in collaboration between the intern, supervisor and the manager of the park they have been assigned to. Since this position will work primarily outdoors, the needs of the park will fluctuate based on weather and holidays.
