FUNCTIONAL JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Job Title: Summer Squad Teacher Assistant Department: Department: NKSD Office of Family Learning Reports to: Reports to: Equity, Belonging, Community Engagement Coordinator Supervises: NA Supervises: NA Description of job: Program: Summer Squad 2026 Grant funded through the Governor’s LEARN365 program, NKSD’s Office of Family Learning hosts Summer Squad, a six-week summer learning program. Outdoor and classroom space will be used for learning activities and will be facilitated by NKSD teachers. The focus of this program is to mitigate summer learning loss by engaging participants in fun, experiential learning activities. Four (4) Teaching Assistant positions (subject to participant enrollment) available to: ? Assist teachers with work with targeted students in rising grades 1-6; ? Help with student arrive and dismissal; ? Serve as a positive mentors & role models; ? Utilize print and digital tools for attendance collection and reporting; ? participate in pre planning and post evaluation activities; Candidates are required to meet with a planning team prior to the start of the program and participate in all meetings as required by funders. Details: ? Program will run from July 7th to August 13th and target 50 students. ? Teacher assistants will be paid $20 per hr plus FICA/Medicare (no additional benefits) for 14 hours/week ? Program hours are between Monday-Thursday morning, 8:30-11:30 am Protective Personal Equipment: n/a

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Associates degree in education field, completion of 60 academic credits in an education field or achievement of passing score on the ParaPro qualifications test with the completion of Teacher Assistant Training Program as required by RIGL 16-11.2-2.
  • Three to six months experience and/or training in a school environment providing support to students.
  • Successfully complete and pass CPI training.
  • Per RIDE Requirements
  • Demonstrated proficiency in essential computer applications as required.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Able to respond simultaneously to a variety of needs for students and staff while maintaining a high degree of sensitivity to individual needs and confidentiality.
  • Ability to prioritize the needs and requests of students and teachers within the school setting and respond in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Ability to interact with students, staff and members of the community in a respectful and positive manner.
  • Ability to effectively handle issues utilizing a personable problem solving approach.
