About The Position

Serve as the primary point of contact and support providing excellent supervision for all QU Summer Participants living on-campus Assist directors and staff with participant check-in, check-out, unpacking, packing, general clean-up of residences as well as regular room inspections daily. Resolve various minor issues such as noise complaints, general questions, or issues. Establish and maintain appropriate participant and employee boundaries. Document incidents such as conduct rules, safety requirements, or cleanliness standards. Serve as a positive role model and representative of Quinnipiac University. Create and maintain an inclusive “home” environment for students and colleagues during the program. Ensure all students are accounted for and in their rooms prior to curfew and out of bed ready for programming after morning wake-up. Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure proper use, care, and maintenance is adhered to; report repairs needed promptly to program director. Report for duty promptly as scheduled and complete assigned work shifts and responsibilities. Follow policies and procedures for rounding, taking breaks, time off, and completing your timesheet. Assist in preparing houses and programming for the opening and closing of the in-person program. Communicate with program leadership, including health staff, about student experiences and report any concerns or issues. Serve as a liaison to communicate with participants’ parents or guardians as requested by program leadership. Help maintain safety for all participants and staff by ensuring all summer program rules, policies and procedures are being followed. Contact the Program Director, Director of First Aid, Public Safety, and medical emergency services (911) as required in the case of any medical or safety emergencies. Adhere to the Minor protection Policy including maintaining participant privacy unless they are a possible risk of hurting themselves or others physically or emotionally, at which point as a Mandated Reporter you must share this information with the Program Director. Properly document anytime a participant is checked-in and checked-out by the appropriate custodial guardians. Know and understand all emergency procedures and safety guidelines associated with QU Summer Programs.

Requirements

  • Attend and complete all required staff training and all staff meetings, which are both remote and in-person.
  • Must be able to live on campus during employment.
  • Allowed off-campus only at times not scheduled to be on-duty.
  • Team player who works well with other staff and program leadership.
  • Creative, able to lead others in fun and engaging activities.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated responsibility, dependability, and good judgement.
  • Must exhibit patience and understanding and have the ability to stay alert for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to sit, stand or maintain physical activity for extended periods
  • Be friendly and enthusiastic.
  • Must be resourceful and demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work up to 35 hours weekly and for the length designated for the position without holding any other on-campus jobs.

Nice To Haves

  • Residential Advisor (RA) and/or youth camp experience (preferred).
  • Current First Aid CPR/AED Certification (preferred).
