About The Position

Summer Operations Assistants with the Office of Student Housing and Residence Life (SHRL) provide essential support to both the daily operation and physical maintenance of the Residence Halls throughout the summer term. Responsibilities span administrative, desk functions, and operations-related work.

Requirements

  • This position includes physical responsibilities and requires the ability to perform tasks such as lifting, moving, and transporting furniture and equipment.
  • Candidates must be capable of meeting the physical demands associated with these duties.
  • Assignment flexibility and a willingness to engage in both administrative and physical tasks are essential.
  • Work-study is required for some positions and preferred for others based on funding availability.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the entrance and exit of buildings and validate individuals entering and leaving
  • Support the safety and security of the Residence Halls in accordance with SHRL guidelines for operating a Front Desk
  • Relocate furniture (dressers, desks, chairs, wardrobes, etc.) to student rooms
  • Transport furniture to dumpsters or storage areas
  • Replace or recover mattresses in dorm rooms
  • Recover couches in Residence Hall lounges
  • Arrange furniture in student rooms
  • Organize, inventory, and maintain storage areas
  • Organize, inventory, maintain, clean, and deliver linen sets to University guests
  • Assist with preparations for fall semester move-in, including room readiness and other opening duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals and daily operations of the department
