About The Position

The Nurse Intern is the opportunity to grow talent within the nursing profession. Potential opportunities in various units such as the Emergency Department, Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, Medical Surgical, and Intensive Care Unit With the guidance of an RN mentor, the Nurse Intern will work in the clinical setting to gain experience performing nursing skills, collaborating with customers and working closely with the interdisciplinary team. The Nurse Intern participates in a learning experience designed to develop confidence and competence in clinical skills to facilitate a smooth transition into a licensed role within their determined specialty. Actively and consistently demonstrates the mission, vision, values, and guiding principles of North Memorial Health.

Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in a BAN or BSN nursing program
• Must have completed third year of a baccalaureate nursing program
• Minimum of two semesters of clinical experience prior to the internship experience
• Must be enrolled in an internship course at a Minnesota-based school of nursing
• Demonstrated ability to maintain composure in high-stress situations, and act quickly in response to critical situations. Solid PC skills to include MS applications, Internet, etc.
• Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to express ideas and information (both in written and oral form), clearly and concisely in a manner appropriate to the audience.
• Demonstrated ability to deal with conflict in a positive manner. Has an awareness of, responds to, and considers the needs, feelings, and capabilities of others.
• Ability to be accountable for quality customer service and respond appropriately to a variety of personalities and situations.
• Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
• Knowledge of nursing theory and practice and primary care principles and practice.
• Current BLS certification.
