About The Position

The Summer Ministry Intern position at Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church offers high school graduates who are potentially sensing a call to future ministry the opportunity to experience firsthand what it is like to work in a church environment. Under the supervision of the Pastoral Residents, interns will learn from and work alongside leaders of multiple different departments to gain a comprehensive understanding of how a healthy church is run. This role advances WCPC’s mission to be a church that equips saints for the work of ministry (Eph. 4:11-13).

Requirements

  • Growing and deepening faith in Jesus Christ
  • Maintain a life of integrity that reflects a genuine faith in Christ
  • High school graduate (or equivalent)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an eagerness to learn
  • Works well both on a team and on their own

Nice To Haves

  • Current enrollment or completion of college or trade school
  • One year of church volunteer experience
  • Previous leadership experience (either at school or work)
  • Familiarity with Planning Center

Responsibilities

  • Assist ministry directors with departmental projects, including scheduling, coordination, and organization of activities
  • Support tracking of project timelines to help ensure departmental work remains on schedule and operational
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and follow through to completion with guidance from supervisors
  • Participate in general ministry and department-specific meetings, contributing as appropriate
  • Observe and learn departmental functions, workflows, and operational needs
  • Collaborate with team members and direct reports to support ongoing projects and team objectives
  • Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality to support team effectiveness
  • Complete required training to build knowledge and skills relevant to assigned responsibilities
  • Apply learned concepts to support day-to-day tasks and departmental initiatives
  • Actively receive, reflect on, and incorporate feedback from supervisors and team members
