About The Position

The Summer Meals Associate is a part-time, seasonal position dedicated to supporting the Food Bank’s mission of providing nutritious meals for children during the summer months when school is out. This role plays an important part in helping ensure children across the community have access to reliable meals in a safe and welcoming environment. Summer Feeding Associates work as part of a team and are assigned to support different aspects of program operations, including meal packing, deliveries, site monitoring, administrative support, or recreational engagement with children. Assignments may vary throughout the summer based on program needs. The program schedule varies but shifts generally fall between 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM Monday through Friday, with a lunch break. Comprehensive training is provided and includes an overview of the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), food safety procedures, and vehicle and equipment use.

  • Comfort working with diverse communities, including children, families, and program partners.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Commitment to the Food Bank’s mission and values, including equity, inclusion, and community service.
  • Integrity, enthusiasm, flexibility, and a strong work ethic.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and current vehicle insurance.
  • Ability to perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation, including lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.
  • A pre-employment background check and drug screening are required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a team of Summer Feeding Associates to support the timely and accurate preparation and distribution of shelf-stable, fresh, and frozen meals.
  • Pack meals, assist with loading vehicles, and support meal distribution at designated sites.
  • Conduct site monitoring visits to ensure compliance with Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) regulations.
  • Assist with delivery routes, including driving Food Bank vehicles when assigned.
  • Support administrative tasks such as organizing paperwork, collecting site records, and compiling program data.
  • Engage with children by facilitating recreational activities that foster a welcoming and inclusive environment.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, program coordinators, and site managers regarding schedules, deliveries, monitoring visits, and other program operations.
