About The Position

Under the general direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, this limited term position (LTE) assists with the summer maintenance of buildings, parks and grounds of Green Lake County.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions; ability to read, write and complete simple mathematical equations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • General knowledge of the use of mechanical equipment; ability to operate such equipment and make simple adjustments on equipment, machinery, and tools.
  • Ability to work a flexible 40 hour/week schedule to accommodate maintenance needs of the County.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, all County departments, and the public.
  • Ability to perform repeated standardized tasks with initiative and sound judgment.
  • Ability to utilize a variety of hand tools and some power tools.
  • Ability to perform moderate or extensive physical efforts to complete required tasks.
  • Ability to apply safety standards to all work performed.
  • Ability to adapt to changing weather conditions.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and must have daily access to a reliable vehicle.

Nice To Haves

  • An ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or GED, supplemented with trade or vocational school training preferred.
  • At least one (1) year’s prior experience in a similar position or any combination of training and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Some related experience and/or training is preferred or a combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in minor repairs to buildings and facilities including plumbing, electrical and structural.
  • Landscaping and mowing.
  • Load and unload supplies and materials.
  • Maintain service park buildings and grounds.
  • Collect and properly dispose of trash.
  • Perform routine maintenance to equipment.
  • Painting.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
