About The Position

Make a Difference This Summer! Become a Summer Literacy Assistant Do you love working with kids and want to make a real impact on their education? Are you passionate about helping children stay on track with their learning over the summer? If so, this opportunity is for you! The YMCA of the North Shore is seeking a Summer Literacy Assistant to support classroom and camp activities in Greater Beverly. In this role, you will play a key part in helping children strengthen their literacy and social skills while ensuring they stay engaged and continue to grow throughout the summer. What You’ll Do: Assist in leading literacy-based activities that promote learning in a fun and supportive environment. Supervise children during classroom and camp activities, ensuring a safe and structured experience. Support curriculum implementation and classroom management while fostering positive behavior. Provide consistency in supervision and communication throughout the day. Build meaningful relationships with participants, encouraging engagement, confidence, and respect for diversity. Apply principles of child development to create an enriching learning experience. Program Details: Dates: July 6th - August 7th Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM Training: Required pre-program training (dates TBD) This role is designed to prevent summer learning loss, helping students return to school ready to succeed. Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three months of supervisory experience working with children, preferably in a classroom or camp setting.
  • Strong ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate, developmentally appropriate activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with diverse populations and the ability to build positive, authentic relationships with individuals from different backgrounds (preferred).
