About The Position

The Summer Associate role offers an MBA or graduate student the opportunity to work as a full member of MassMutual Ventures Climate Tech investment team. This is a hands-on investing role designed for a proactive, intellectually curious individual who is excited about early-stage climate technology and motivated to take ownership of investment work. As a Summer Associate, you will support the team across the full investment lifecycle between research, sourcing, diligence, financial analysis, and portfolio support. This role is ideal for someone considering a long-term career in venture capital or climate-focused investing. This is a 10-week, paid position requiring full-time, in-person commitment at our Boston office.

Nice To Haves

• Enrolled in an accredited MBA or relevant graduate degree program with intended graduation in 2027
• 3+ years of experience in a relevant industry and role
• Strategic thinker with ability to analyze market trends, early-stage companies, and emerging technologies
• Ability to synthesize complex information into clear investment insights
• Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills
• A deep intellectual curiosity and appetite for learning

Responsibilities

• Thematic & Sector Research: Research priority MMV CTF investment themes to enhance proactive sourcing and build strategic conviction.
• Investment Analysis: Conduct market, competitive, and company-specific diligence to evaluate early-stage climate tech opportunities.
• Investment Materials: Draft and refine investment memos, directly contributing towards closing investment deals.
• Portfolio Support: Support portfolio companies with market research and ad-hoc analysis for value-creation efforts.
• Process & Tool Improvement: Build and maintain internal tools to improve team efficiency.
