Summer Internship, Farming Environmental Health & Safety
About The Position
Overview: We are seeking a motivated and responsible Wonderful Scholar for full time internship. In this position, you will gain hands on professional experience and learn how the department runs. Here's what you'll do: Safety Project work includes: Safety Form Development - take existing safety forms and enter into the Enablon Safety Database. Enter events into Enablon Perform first aid kit and fire extinguisher inspections. Conduct Critical Behavior Observations in the field. Assist farming, nursery, and shop supervisors with their monthly tailgates delivery. Assist the EHS Supervisor with site inspections. Support additional safety project needs. Learn about all components of a safety program including: safety training curriculum development, accident investigation, employee coaching, SIF PDCAs, and facility/jobsite inspections. Work environment/conditions: Combination office/field work; Orchard conditions are extreme, with summer temperatures regularly exceeding 100 F°. Some night work is expected to support our spray operations.
Requirements
- Enrolled in accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program with studies focused on Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Compliance, Business Administration, Human Resources, Industrial Technology, or related field
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-directed and able to work autonomously.
- Energetic and able to tackle new projects and ideas.
- Ability to write and present reports as requested.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Computer Proficient in Word, and Excel, and use of the internet.
- CA Valid Driver’s License.
